110mph = little or no sympathy from a judge.

so dont tell me that when I say I drive fast at my job its hypocritical... you have no idea what your talking about... you have the mentality of a 16 year old high school punk who just got their license.... you go on a ridealong with a cop and ask him to take you to the high speed fatal accident involving that subaru full of kids.... then you come back and make your smart *** comments... I know for a fact you will STFU and drop the childish attitude about speeding... THAT is a fact...
Who's to say i haven't seen the carnage? My uncle was killed in a motorcycle accident. And I watched a speeding truck cross the median and kill two innocent people in another car. I've seen the carnage. If you don't have the stomach for your job, perhaps you should consider a different field. It's officers like you that earn the rest of your field a bad repuation.

Must I remind you of December 21st, 2005, I-5 just north of the Grapevine... some a-hole driving "as fast as their car could easily handle" and flew by CHP officer Erick Ofc. Erick Manny. Officer Manny attempted to pursue the suspect and, while doing so, was cut off by another driver, lost control, and was killed instantly....

So you see, even if "theres nobody around and I'm not affecting anyone"... incidents like the above one happen all the time... that person never stopped, and they are actively looking for him/her... did they know it happened? who knows.... they may have been just like you... "Dude 178 all the time... nobody around, no cops, no danger"... BS attitude....

As for the supporting vendors comment.... if you read all the posts, you would see that I refered to a small group of people on the forum with this type of attitude, and that I was surprised at how many people in the Corvette community thought this way about dangerous high speed driving..

Why do you think that the admins do not support or allow discussions of street racing? Our cars can definately "handle the race" as some people have stated... because its dangerous and irresponsible... just like driving 110 MPH is on the freeway
It's hippocritical to preach one thing from your high horse, and then do another thing. You are not above the law. If you're scared to go those speeds then don't. Just from your example, a speeder was doing just fine, until an officer decided to pursue, and when he did HE hit other innocent people. As well as killing himself. It's sad that an officer lost his life being wreckless but it's nobody's fault but his own.

I'm done with this, if you want a piece of me, take it to pm.

As for the creator of the thread, sorry for the hijack, just lawyer up, i'm sure you'll come out ahead. A good lawyer will pay for himself everytime.

Took defensive driving and kept it from going against me. You may have this choice too, but your speed makes going to court manditory.

You're lucky you didn't do this in Puerto Rico. If you're caught driving that fast, they put you in a mental ward as they feel you're suicidal.
The same thing kinda happened to me. I got busted going 125 in a 45 when racing a Grand Prix, but the cop wrote me a speeding ticket for like 85 instead of a reckless driving charge.

[/B]Do you think 1 idiot in traffic driving fast justifies the 2nd one particulary in a crowded area?[/B]

What justification would you have to take off after a Vette going 110? Your car is likely to become so unstable compared to this Vette you would now be the traffic hazard. I can respect your work, but don't be so self-righteous.
Your the morons who want to take away the rights of the police officers to protect people from fleeing criminals... what you jack asses don't understand is that if you take away the right and ability for the police to chace after the bad guys... guess what happens? Katie Bar the door... EVERYONE will run, and there will be more criminals out on the street to break into your car and rob the liquor store, and sell drugs, and rob banks..... oh, and guess what else... get in wrecks with morons like you and flee, leaving you with the bill...

Who the #$#k are you to say if a stop is justfied?! You have NO CLUE what you are talking about.... that person who just committed that "minor traffic infraction" is not running because he is afraid of a ticket.... normal people, even like those on this forum driving 110, pull over and accept their fate... someone who runs, is not running because of that ticket... a very small percentage of people who flee from a police officer for a minor infraction are doing so because of THAT infraction... they are a Parolee at large, or they have dope or a gun, or just committed a major crime, or are about to.... yuppies behind desks can cry all day long about how a cop chased a car and was "unjustified" because it was just a stop sign violation.... nice to be out of the "know" and have the ignorant people out there listen (like you).... as soon as you have a SINGLE CLUE what you are talking about... you come and see me..... If all your posts are vomitted up from a local FOX news cast, don't bother coming back... get some facts, get a clue and get lost.

Im guessing

A.) your not a cop and for some reason you choose to pretend
or
B.) Your a desk jockie that has never been on the street
or
C.) Your just so new you don't know any better

Cuz if you ARE a cop, and you're making fun of a situation that happens all the time because of speeders.... Its a sad day where you work... and I truely hope you can find another line of work....

Everybody respects what you do and what you have to say. I think you got your point across (many posts ago) and we all can see where you are coming from. Is there any reason to rehash your position as well as the name calling?

Getting pulled over for speeding is just that. Our guy didnt rob a bank and then get into a high speed chase for gods sake...

You own a fast sports car. People go fast.

But what the officer did wasn't right.
First, you can request to see the Radar/lazer detector. They have to show you.
If they refuse, tell them to right on the ticket that "they refused to show you the rader speed".
They will try "I'll have to handcuff you" ect. Do it anyway. If you have a camera, have them take a picture for you.

In court you can ask them to show you "how" they clocked you with their speed gun.
One, you need to know the proper way it is done. Many don't know the proper way. It will get the ticket dropped.

Next search the internet on who to get out of speeding tickets. There are books on it, and if you have the time (make it) you can get out of alot.

Know your roads. Some roads are more frequently patroled then others. Because there is room to pull over or sit.

Then get a radar/laser detector. It won't be a complete fool proof thing, but but it may save your ***
I ordered mine before I have even got the car.

If you are in a city that has those center areas for them to hide, they'll most likely be using something to hit the cars ahead of you.
Bottom line is, that if you are going fast and pass them, by the time the pull out safely and point the gun you'll be at legal speed.
Even if they pull you over, again you have the right to be shown proof.

So if they see you doing 100, it doesn't mean they can ticket you for doing 100. Remember "Innocent until PROVEN guilty".
Their word against yours in court won't hold much water either, and there have been times when the officer doesn't even show up.

Me, too! Add a little salt to my beer, but let's not drink it and drive, ok??? and on our way home in the morning, let's all obey the speed limits. (I will get to that speed limit, quickly though.)

Gosh such a rough crowd here ...poor guy even has hate mail from some of you wishing him the worst possible fate, calling him a punk which is really uncalled for and mean spirited. To those I think you should sell your vette and get something more suitable to your personality ...like maybe a minivan or station wagon. Maybe hang out on the minivan forum while you're at it.

Personally I would simply blame it on the vette and throw yourself on the mercy of the court because something must be wrong with your car for going that fast. I didn't realize there were so many vettes that couldn't go over the speed limit. Such a waste of a beautiful car.

How can you call someone you don't even know uneducated?

this thread made my night, some of you guys are just so entertaining to read...such drama
speeding on an open highway with no other traffic is GENERALLY quite safe towards others, can't hurt anyone that's not around....
that said, reckless drivers that weave in an out through rush hour traffic at 50-60 are much more dangerous to others and **** me off. if he had been doing so in the streets, through intersections and neighborhoods, i'd say he deserves the ticket and maybe more...
that swiss biker that crashed into the car, now that's a moron...did he deserve to die? no. do i care? no. is ge an a$$hole for killing those other people? yes....catching a theme here yet?

all that matters is whether or not you're putting others in danger to me....no? knock yourself out...did you have fun doing it? sweet! did you wreck? damn, better luck next time!

we like to do many things in our lives that risk our lives to some extent or another....some much more than others...is that wrong? no. is it foolish? maybe. but that's for ME to decide. if i like to go swimming in a pool full of piranhas to see if i can outswim them, stupid as it may be, F U for trying to preach at me the evils of my ways and how stupid they are. yes, my mom and dad will be very sad if i die. stupid example, i know, but so is a lot of this conversation....

people that see this carnage you speak of (yes i personally know some) are a strange breed. i'm not a psychologist and am not personally exposed to it (though i have seen it), but it seems to me like they become hypersensitive to stuff, and not just this. it seems to just be part of their personality... probably some shade of PTSD...you, my friend, seem to belong to this evolving breed...

anyway, SANDMANUSD, this is all coming from someone who thinks quite the opposite of what you've lumped us as...those wanting to rid cops of their power to pursue bad guys...i think you should have the power to shoot at will and cut the chase off before it even becomes an issue. since i was a teenager i had a solution for the growing gang problems in LA and the Raiders moving out of the colliseum: round up all the gangbangers and throw them into the colliseum, lock all the exits, and airdrop a huge crate of their favorite guns in there...could probably make a good profit on PPV! long live capital punishment!

PS LOL i just thought if this as i was going to hit submit... about all a solo speeder (i.e. no traffic) should get...one more time SOLO for those hard of reading...if he wrecks is a bill for the cleanup crew and a headline in the morning paper so everyone knows who messed up their commute. if he dies, no fine, lol, he paid the ultimate price already.

by the way Sandman, i have nothing agains cops...most of them...and i don't envy your position. you have crap jobs. the problem is you have a job that requires you do me emotionless to do it most effectively. you need to be able to view, assess, and react to a situation without influence of any emotion to best decide the course of action. can you do that? can anyone? not easily. to me, by this discussion, you seem to have witnessed to much crap to allow you to even come close.

step back and get your blood pressure down...
