Sorry about the Vette..At least he did not get a chance to drive off..sure your back is ok from the slip in the oil sounds like the station owner my also be at fault.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune. My first vette was a 61 roadster and i bought it with a smashed front end. It was in the body shop for two months and the first day it was out a drunk backed right into it. I feel your pain bro.

it looked like they were starting to so my friend got in his 99 orange ss and was willing to chase

I agree, at least they didn't drive off! That only gets worse and you end paying the deductable on your collision policy!! Been there, done that with a less than 6 weeks old F-150 several years ago... $1800 damage to the side of the box and wheel... Came out from the store and never saw it until the next morning when I was dusting the truck... It was on the passenger side...
I now take a walk-around my cars when coming out from the store... Not that it protects you from the idiots of the world...
sorry dude but remember Its a car, its only a car. Its not your Mom, Wife, Daughter, Neice, or even crappy second wife. Cars can be fixed people, sometimes not
I had mine two weeks and some a$$ ran a stop sign in a Ford F-350 dually (massive beast) and nailed my rear quarter panel, rear fascia, and wheel (there was minor suspension damage)... $4100 dollars later and this on the wall:
and it was done...
So cheer up, it will get fixed and she'll be good as new!!

I won't make the generalization obout $hit kickers in P/U's, because I know a lot of folks here use them a daily drivers. But some of these guys in these monster rigs just cannot see something as low as a Vette. I get cutoff on the freeways and on the street most often by P/U's. I don't think these drivers think to look down - just out. They don't see anything and they think it's safe to make whatever manuever they're getting ready for.
As the others have stated - at least he didn't take off and he did have insurance.
I am really sorry your first 12 days of Vette ownership has been so traumatic - first a speeding ticket for 34 over, and now this....hang in there - it can only get better! Good luck on your repairs.
i want one of those on my wall....but not cause the rest of my vette is gone...im goin to try and stick em for a hood and wheels...this guy was a ****kicker in a pickup..i think about 9 people crawled out of the damn thing,...this one girl was one the phone and she told the person she was talkin to "we just ran over a corvette hehehehe" i wanted to stab her with a rusty spoon!!!!!!!

Does anyone think that "prepay" gas stations attract a less responsible group of customers on the whole? I never buy gas at a "prepay" station because I resent the idea they don't trust you. You also have to leave your car unattended twice and stand in line twice wasting more of your time and subjecting your car to greater risk.
Kinda crazy that police didn't want to come out. Aren't they supposed to file some kind of report or something for the insurance companies? I think its crazy you had to tell the dispatcher that someone was going to die if a cop didn't show up... lol At least it worked...
Honestly... i'm not sure what i would do in a situation like that... a lot of times when i get that angry, i dont even think... Good for you holding your composure and getting insurance and stuff instead of attacking him with a tire iron, or hosing him in gas and lighting him on fire...(even though he definately deserves it...) i can't say i woulda done the same, at least you're not in jail and at least your car will get fixed.
and when its been estimated by theirs, request they provide a diminished value assesment (or hire someone to do that on your own)
-like the guys have said, if its only a panel thats replaced or two, no biggy thats why we love em, but give the insurance company the case and stand to get some extra cash out of it...
i sped up to pass some body...what else was supposed to do??? and the wreck wasnt my fault...why isnt c5 for me..to be honest..that kinda pissed me off
