My sympathies. That really sucks. And falling down on your way out there, to boot. I mean, that's adding insult to injury. Maybe you should sue the gas station while you're at it. Good luck with everything.
well...car will probably be gone over the weekend..so ill be racin around in my little chevy aveo rental...this sucks...oh well...will be shinier when i get it
im still wonder about how to go about gettiing diminished value?
You want to wait until after all the repairs are made before you bring up diminished value. If you bring it up first, they may try to shortcut the repairs, knowing that they 'might' have to pay extra for the diminished value claim. Overall, they want to only pay a certain amount for the claim. If they think they are going to fork over an extra grand for DV, then they may try to repair some parts (rather than replace) or go with offshore ones instead of OEM to make up the difference.
Do a search for Diminished Value, it's been discussed here before. If I remember correctly, you typically will only get around 3-5% of the car's value for DV.
that doesnt sound like good advice randy, unless you give him your backing But i agree i would have been pissed as hell if not more like you. Hope it all works out for ya
