I'm 6' 5" and i can see it just fine. my dad also has a c5 and he is 6' 8" and he uses it every day. it doesnt work very well during the day but it is a big help at night not to have to take your eyes off the road.
I always use mine with the Speedo and Fuel gauge. It's set just below eye level and I don't have to focus on it. IT only "seems" to be there when I quickly glance at it.
I find myself driving my oterh cars saying, "WTF?" when I check the window and can't see my gauges. I love the HUD.
well I guess I'm the weird one on this I really dont see the purpose of it. Right now I'm running it with MPH only, as that allows me to get it up further so I can look down and see it, otherwise i have to look far enough down that I can see the analog guages as well. I found the tach usuless, and well generally i just dont think there is a purpose for it, maybe I'll get used to it .
I'm short at 5'6" and use my HUD all the time. I love it. Haven't looked at the gauges on the instrument cluster since owning the car. I actually hate driving all of my other cars without it. I don't think HUD's are gimmicks at all, now that I've used this one. I wish they were made standard on all cars.
I am 6'2" and it can be right in my line of sight. I keep it at the bumbers in front of me. It really helps me stay aware of my speed during normal driving, and keeps me from looking down during that occasional non-normal driving when I watch the tach, not the speed.
I always leave mine on...MPH only. I rarely look down since the HUD will let you know if anything needs attention. At night I turn off all my dash lights...who needs 'em!!

- it was part of the options package but I never cared for it, found it distracting. To each his own.
Extremely useful I find, because it allows me know what speed I am going without taking my eyes off the road. I take it off however at very slow speeds, such as contruction zones, where I really need to look down and close to the car in order to avoid obstacles such as potholes, sewer caps, etc.
My only complaint is the SHIFT light: by the time it comes on, it's too late to react - you're already kissing the rev limiter.
