Default all the time...on the saudibahn !

I don't get too much use out of it while in the city, but here on the saudibahn when I can reach speeds up to 140 mph, I find it indispensable. I don't know how many feet/sec I travel at, bu taking my eyes off the road for even a second at that speed scares the **** out of me! I keep rpms, mph and oil temp visible. So ya, at highway speeds all the time. Day or night.

Use mine all the time. When driving my Grand Cherokee, I catch myself looking for the HUD in the windshield sometimes...

rpm, mph, & engine temp-----all fairly dim so it's not distracting. immensely helpful keeping the speed thing in check. bub

I use the HUD display all the time - seldom look down to the gauges anymore. I keep mine on RPM and fuel along with the speed.

I just installed one in my '98 and really like it so far. I can already tell that I like to see only speed and keep it dim enough (even daytime with top down) to not be intrusive. It surprised me a little that I liked the speed display since I'm more of an analog guy.

My gripe with HUDs is that they can be very busy and distracting. My gripe with this one is that the dash is pretty reflective so there's a different kind of distraction in my field of view. Is that true for you guys with factory HUDs (with the fancy windshield)?

the way I sit with the HUD adjusted as far up as it will go before getting cut off or distorted, it is at about the end of the hood, I have no idea how I would get it high enough to be at the rear bumper on the car in front of me, unless I was up underneth them trying to get them loose in the corner

I wish I could get it high enough so that I didnt have to move my eyes at all just re focus my eyes to see it.

I guess one reason I dont use it very much is because I use the cruise all the time, even down to 30 mph, and then I have the V1 for the high speed stuff

Hi Patrick -

I run the oil temp on mine.

I started that after the discussion regarding the 160 thermostat and the proper temps at which an ls series engine was supposed to run.

best regards -

Default HUD Use

As a new user I needed to "condition" myself to use it all the time. If not, I seemed to bounce back and forth too much. After that, I find that it is a clean way to keep tabs on vitals. Shift indicator could be better and adjustable but is useful when trying to merge into traffic etc. Lastly, MPH is great when moving down the highway at speed and make a visual on a CHP. Sure helps to quickly verify cruise control or throttle setting with a sharp adjustment if necessary. It has shortcomings but works nonetheless.

Same here.

The HUD feature was one of the things I really liked when I started looking for another car and found the Vette.

wouldn't do without it. I'm 6'4" and have no problem. the adjustment is easy and I love not having to look through or over the wheel to see the guages. great feature.

I don't think I sit weird in my seat or anything. Maybe I will have to pay attention to where other Vette drivers have their seats positioned.

MPH only. I'm 6'2",views easy enough to me, and I look at it in town. Not distracting when I don't on the highway.
