Thanks. Fuse didn't work and neither did disconnecting the battery. Do you still yank on the wheel even though the lock plate is gone?

I am sorry, I forgot you had your plate removed. I have no clue what to do at this point except calling the dealer and raising hell.

Just talked to the GM customer assistance guy and they have no clue either. I gave him my old case number and he was able to pull me up but didn't have an answer. Said he'd call me back tomorrow. I asked him to check into the 'late 04 actuator'. He sounded like it was news to him but he said he's check.

If yours has the harness, you probably have a defective one. My dealer removed mine. Once removed then pulling the fuse your BCM might reset.

Yes, but I would bet that the dealer also reconnected the harness to the CL actuator. Do you hear the lock motor when you remove the key? If that's the case, then the BCM is still getting the LOCK/UNLOCK signals from the CL but since the locking plate was removed the CL will never actually lock the wheel. So you still have a risk if the CL does not move to the correct position and the BCM does not get the correct signal (hence cuts fuel), which seems like a possibility with the pre-2004 lock actuators.

In this case, the CLB would still be a good idea since it will leave your CL unlocked and send the correct lock state to the BCM. However you need to be sure that any of the earlier recalls, especially the one the installed the extra relay in the passenger footwell near the BCM, has not been performed or has been reversed.

Thanks for the explanation.

Got my column lock code off, removed the K harness and installed the CLB. It seems to be working fine. I'll keep you posted. Mine had the white relay on the K harness. I heard these were never very good.

This **** popped up for me last night. Sweet!

I sat in the car and yanked the steering wheel back and forth several times, put the key back in and it still says the same thing. After reading all the crap in this therad and others, it makes me want to not bring the car in, but it seems like I don't have much choice if I can't get it unlocked myself.

Also, some of you are saying, don't drive the car once you get it unlocked, until you can get a CLB stuck in there. The only problem is it's almost the weekend, even if I ordered a CLB today, I'm not getting it tomorrow, and I kinda need my car... luckily my sisters out of town this weekend so I can borrow her car, but that doesn't help me next week.

Thanks everyone.
