If your driving record doesn't reflect similar/multiple past violations you might "get a deal". You can approach the prosecuting attorney before your court date and ask for consideration if your past driving record is relatively clean. Doing so reduces court costs and case loads.
Do not approach the officers to "help you out"...in many jurisdictions, that might be considered witness tampering.
A deal in your case might include (but not limited to) a fine, 2-3 points, mandatory traffic survival school, unsupervised probation, a restricted or suspended license and of coarse insurance increases.
If your driving record reflects a prior bad driving record, it might be a very high fine, additional points for the criminal offense, a revoked drivers license, jail, supervised probation, suspension of your vehicle registration and insurance increases.
If you have no defense for your actions, hire a lawyer...they love these cases. They pay for their Mercedes and swimming pools with the thousands of dollars they charge traffic case defendents. I'm not slamming attorneys, it's a fact. You will pay lots of money for professional representation with no guarantees. If a lawyer tells you he guarantees you'll walk with only a fine, get it in writing! He can appeal any decision by the court, but that costs more money.
I know how I'd defend myself, but I won't tell you w/o a $2500.00 non refundable retainer fee (I'm not a lawyer btw) and $350.00/hr court time, plus expenses for research, expert witnesses, etc
Was probably an attorney. Figures that scumbag would get away. Oh well, best of luck with your case. Normally, I'd advise getting a V1, but since it was a "bear in the air," no detector would have been helpful. Be careful out there...the taxmen are always waiting.

I'm no more a lawyer than you are a physician...you're funny!
Like many other members on this board our work required us to interface with lawyers on a daily basis. We know their tricks, thought processes and we know the law. I've seen to many citizens pay a lawyer hundreds or thousands of dollars thinking they were going to be completely forgiven for their sins. The truth is in many situations a citizen can get the same results w/o a lawyer if they've prepared themselves for the court process.

It's an average speed over the entire distance measured, not peak speed like RADAR or LASER. It makes it difficult to argue you were passing someone. The longer the distance measured, the more accurate the device. It's the same used in patrol cars. It's extremely accurate and frequently calibrated, both with internal checks and between known distances on the highway.
The observer officer that measured the speed does not need to be the officer that stopped you. The observer gives a description of the vehicle and stays with the vehicle until the ground officers make the stop, confirming the correct vehicle. All officers involved in your stop will be subpoenaed to court should you plead not guilty.
If your actual speed was 130mph and you were written for "only" 110mph, you should consider yourself very lucky. That's usually an offense that results in immediate jail and vehicle impound. The actual speed measured will also be admissible in court and could be considered by the judge in sentencing.
If you decide to plead not guilty, have a sound defense (?) and be well prepared. Do not perjure your testimony as suggested. Most traffic enforcement officers take copious notes. The multiple officers (all 3) who stopped you will most likely vividly recall everything you said and did because of your speed and car.
I use to ride with the Florida Highway patrol in their airplane and clock speeders. Great fun by the way. They only used a stop watch by simply clicking when the car front hit the white line and then agaian when the back of the car passed the white line. You actually got somewaht of break with that metod. Had a chart of the yoke of plane that converted time to MPH and called down to th trooper on the ground pinting outh the correct car and would actaully follow it to ensure the correct car got pulled over. Most of this was down in the Florida Keys along US1 when I was with him. Got a girl in a Camaro - 105 in a 45 and a motorcycle 120 in a 55. NO fancy equipment used other than a stopwatch. By the way the pilot trooper was the person who appeared in court for each ticket written

You definitely should read some books on defending yourself, review the ticket for accuracy and plan your strategy carefully, maybe hire a lawyer, or just suck it and take the consequences, which will cost dearly in time and finances and increased insurance.
Good luck.

ok, listen up...ive been caught at 107 running from the police and and clocked at 147 by a state tropper. this is what you do...i imagine your ticket was reckless driving? if so...you need to get a laywer.. im not kidding, you will most likely lose your license and have a huge fine. i got a laywer when i was caught at 147 and i had to pay 250 bucks, keep my license and had to take a 4 hour driver improvment class. the laywer wont be cheap, but better than loosing your license

VASCAR does the same thing as the stop watch technique, just much faster and much more accurate.

what am I missing in this thread? The whole focus seems to be how to fight/avoid/negotiate what sounds like a real, factual serious infraction of the law. The last thing any of us need on the freeways is some hoon in a fast car screaming down the road at 100+! This is no better then the kids on crotch rockets doing the same. This endangers everyone on the road. Why has no one said "save it for the track??" I'm sure my comments will generate a whole bunch of "what a wus" type replies..I'm ok with driving 10-15 over the limit..but 100+ (sounds more like 130+)...just plain dumb. I say pay the price before an innocent bystander dies.

Cali17:

Actually I think you were lucky that you only received the speeding ticket. By all rights, with a Mercedes going with you at same or greater speed, you could have been truly nailed with an "exhibition of speed or performance " (racing) ticket. Regardless if you were or weren't ,the odds of legitimate purposes of two cars clocking that high a rate of speed on the highway at close juxtaposition and not be racing would be minimal.

That said, get an attorney and hope for the best. Some people think that paying your way out of a mess somehow get's you off. Then there are people so cheap they would rather not pay a $25 fine and choose instead a night in jail. Money has a punitive value and so does jail time.

It's pretty obvious some people believe if you have enough money and lawyers, you will not be held accountable for your actions.

Unless its on video, then he gets hammered for lying his azz off, which he would deserve.

The guy asked for help,so some people are trying to help him...
Recently at a friends 20th anniversary of his legal practice , I asked him what he had learned in 20 years. His reply "you can buy as much justice as you can afford, this is America"

This is the Truth, like it or not. Ask OJ ?

THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY POINT.

but alas this is America and everyone can speak there minds and to all those that are helping me... i cant thank you enough !!!

and to those that are not... well here is the story i am not a menace . i am mature, you dont buy at vette all by yourself at 23 if your not, i have a prefect driving record prior to this, i dont street race, never have..nor will i ever, This is simply one big mistake, i was not in any way racing the mercedez next to me, and i did not even realize i was maybe speeding, the 15 to las vegas is an extremely long stretch of road mostly in the desert. I got tagged and all i am trying to do is control the loads of damage that is going to come my way.

so once again thanks to all those that are helping !!

peace !
