I am not a lawyer, but I was able to get the charges dropped against me.
If you were tracked by an airplane as you stated and the chase cars were on the ground, all you need to prove is that the guy in the plane lost sight of your vehicle (i.e. your vehicle was not in his constant site until he stopped you).
You should get a lawyer and have him subpenoa all of the transmissions between the operator of the plane and the ground crew. There must have been lines on the road where they timed you. You need to go back and take pictures of the area where they said they timed you and the place where they actually pulled you over. I'm sure it had to be some distance.
I would also mention in your testimony that there several other cars the same color as my car out on the highway, how did they identify yours as the target vehicle.
and to those that are not... well here is the story i am not a menace . i am mature, you dont buy at vette all by yourself at 23 if your not, i have a prefect driving record prior to this, i dont street race, never have..nor will i ever, This is simply one big mistake, i was not in any way racing the mercedez next to me, and i did not even realize i was maybe speeding, the 15 to las vegas is an extremely long stretch of road mostly in the desert. I got tagged and all i am trying to do is control the loads of damage that is going to come my way.
In this poor persons defense - i was travelling that highway 2 weeks ago pulling a 25 foot trailer behind my Avalanche doing 80-90 mph and getting passed by everything under the sun including semi's and little old ladies - i was just trying to keep up

i do have a lawyer now . he is a friend .. so hopefully they .. (the court )will take me more seriously now. i just hope i will not loose my license .. cause i need to go to work . .and attend my LSAT classes.
A fellow bought a new Corvette and was out on an interstate for a nice evening drive. The top was down, the breeze was blowing through what was left of his hair, and he decided to open her up. As the needle jumped up to 80 mph he suddenly saw a flashing red and blue light behind him.
"There ain't no way they can catch a Corvette," he thought to himself and opened her up further. The needle hit 90, 100, 130 and finally 150 with the light still behind him. "What the hell am I doing?" he finally thought and pulled over.
The cop came up to him, took his license without a word, and examined it and the car. "I've had a tough shift and this is my last pull over. I don't particularly feel like doing more paperwork, so if you can give me an excuse for your driving that I haven't heard before, you can go."
"Last week my wife ran off with a cop," the man said, "and I was afraid you were trying to give her back."
Look up 22348(1) C.V.C. - it says, the "fine shall not be more the $500.00... and/or DL suspension for not more than 30 days..."
...the second offense is $750 ... thrid is $1000 ... on your forth you get a steak knife set
Either way, good luck.... Be calm, professional and try not to sound like your justifying your actions... the judge will appreciate honesty...
Hoping the officers won't show is not going to happen... if it's their day off, CHP gets 4 hours of OT... if they're working, they'll be there... they get a court order to show up... just like you.
And I thought you had to listen to a timeshare pitch to get a steak knife set, hey if I get caught doing 100+ on the way to the timeshare pitch will I get 2 steak knife sets?
Sorry to be flippant about your situation I just had to laugh at MyVetteDreem's comments. Good luck in court and I agree with everyone else it is time to hire the best traffic lawyer you can afford.
Our corvette club went on a cruise to the Arkansas Mountains this weekend (I'll call them big hills for those who really live by real mountains) but we had a blast. 18 corvettes and a few of us broke the 100+ barrier for a short blast (so I saw 140+).
I'm sure they would've brought a bus to carry us all to jail. If you listened to our wives, we all tried to kill them (I personally was grounded). The bottom line is that we're all mature adults (some way mature and grey if you get what I mean), we did it on a long straight road with no traffic. It was as safe as 100 gets. We all knew what would happen if we saw Johnny Law, and we didn't care. Unless we got caught.
Sorry about your luck. It could and probably will happen to any one of us. Best advice anyone has given is get a good attorney. Money buys pretty much anything. Those that have more, just had more money.
Oh Cali17 it sounds like you did get off easy....your car could have been impounded at that speed Gotta watch for those air spotters when driving to Vegas. Especially where they have road signs warning you about them.....Next time, fly to Vegas, silly.
Get a court order for the maintenance records of the device on that plane that tracked your speed....you now have a lawyer...you didn't say whether or not the benz was also ticketed but if so, that sounds worse....You are in deep doo doo imho
maybe you should get a motorcycle license as backup -
I was ticketed for speed at well over 3 times the posted limit! (112 in a 35) I will tell you that a GOOD lawyer WILL do the trick, I got the best, and received a $50 fine and 2 points.
Seems the legal types help one another out(judges included!)
I'm no more a lawyer than you are a physician...you're funny!
Like many other members on this board our work required us to interface with lawyers on a daily basis. We know their tricks, thought processes and we know the law. I've seen to many citizens pay a lawyer hundreds or thousands of dollars thinking they were going to be completely forgiven for their sins. The truth is in many situations a citizen can get the same results w/o a lawyer if they've prepared themselves for the court process.
Mmmm..."a citizen," sounds like copspeak to me. Yes, sorry to tell you, but graduated med school back in '83, and am even Board-certified. Thank God I don't have to "interface with lawyers on a daily basis." I agree, they're a wily bunch without doubt. Happy motoring.

You're going to be able to keep the milage low for a while.
The guy asked for help,so some people are trying to help him... Recently at a friends 20th anniversary of his legal practice , I asked him what he had learned in 20 years. His reply "you can buy as much justice as you can afford, this is America"
This is the Truth, like it or not. Ask OJ ?
ask OJ what ? he didnt buy anything,he made the playing field even, which he was able to afford !! lotsa people cant do that, and thats why they get ---ked....back to the matter. hardly anyone cares(judges, police, lawyers) tickets are about revenue, plain and simple. i feel safer with some exceeding the limits, when the conditions are right, than grandpa doing 35 in the left. hire a lawyer.
