speed ticket

my notice said mandatory appearnce. But I would like to get a trail by written declaration. I have already requested this, but .. the notice I recieved did not list the bail amount which you must send in, in order to obtain the trail by written declaration forms.
Any thoughts from anyone !!
thanks !

If you are not joking about taking the LSAT to get into law school, then you really need to find a good lawyer familiar with the traffic court and has friends there. Cause if this is on your record, i.e. criminal record, you are going to have a very hard time getting into law school. They do background checks as do the state bars. Law schools frown heavily on people with criminal records no matter how minor. I know from experience on this one.

I just saved alot of money on my insurance by getting a lawyer!

seriously, the officers are there to do their job and they use every resource available, and a court system that they know very well.
You on the other hand know nothing about traffic violations and the resources available to you. Hire a lawyer and get a fair representation in the court system that makes America great.
Then take your punishment ... learn and live, but don't just roll over and die

You admitted in your 1st post that you were running 130 mph, and now you didn't know you were speeding??? I don't think I'd try that one on the judge!!!
The Judge knows this. We make mistakes in life and we pay with money. So pay a lot for a lawyer. Tell the Judge you are really sorry and have no excuse. Ask him to spare your license so you can still go to work and pay for your fines and not be unemployed and on wealthfare. He might JUST take your money.
Next time you speed that fast, just pay more attention.

2. Get a book, or lawyer who knows how to challenge the equipment, calibration and maintenance logs of the plane that clocked you.
3. Found this Shiester on a google search... he sounds pretty good.

I love it when I hear your California speeding ticket involves a radar ticket, a laser ticket or a lidar ticket. Why? Because a California ticket involving a posted speed limit and a radar ticket or a lidar ticket or a laser, it is presumed to be a 22350 VC California speed trap. My job in Court is to make sure the judge knows it’s an illegal 22350 VC California Speed Trap. If it’s a California speed trap case, the officer’s testimony is illegal, the officer’s observation is illegal and the judge has no power to convict you!
if your ticket is a 22350 VC, a 22349 VC, a 22356 VC , a 22348 VC call or send an email to stantheradarman.com

I don't know this guy but he seems like an aggressive & cheap lawyer who does nothing but traffic tickets. Plus he goes by the handle Stan the Radar Man - how hokey is that!
Good luck,
According to my interpretation of the Calif. Vehicle Code, speed traps are illegal. And VASCAR qualifies as a Speed Trap.
According to his web site one of the things Stan The Radar Man likes to argue is certain radars are legal speed traps and if he can establish that then the officers testimony is not admitted....

Oh crap... maybe I shouldn't have used the beer smilie - that's a 502 (or what ever they call it now)
Darn, this one's going too fast, better get another.
Ooh, this one looks like a Judge.
.
in your great state. I haven't hardly been about to fall a sleep
since as this will make my car unaffordable to me.
please your honorable Judge may I take drivers class and be
on probation for this offence. Please considor this.
I have thought how stupid this was and would like a chance.
thank you your honorable judge.
Don't laugh it got me a 30.00 4 hour internet class for 92- in a 55
zone.
try it it can not hurt.
Recently at a friends 20th anniversary of his legal practice , I asked him what he had learned in 20 years. His reply "you can buy as much justice as you can afford, this is America"
THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY POINT.
but alas this is America and everyone can speak there minds and to all those that are helping me... i cant thank you enough !!!
and to those that are not... well here is the story i am not a menace . i am mature, you dont buy at vette all by yourself at 23 if your not, i have a prefect driving record prior to this, i dont street race, never have..nor will i ever, This is simply one big mistake, i was not in any way racing the mercedez next to me, and i did not even realize i was maybe speeding, the 15 to las vegas is an extremely long stretch of road mostly in the desert. I got tagged and all i am trying to do is control the loads of damage that is going to come my way.
so once again thanks to all those that are helping !!
peace !

I have been a police officer for over 30 years and for those who tell you to get an attorney that should take care of paying their rent and add to the total cost of legal experience.
Best advice I have given over the years and seen is to go into court looking presentable, be honest, explain that it is your only prior offense, your driving record is good, you are normally a very responsible individual and driver, etc. Tell the judge you hope he will take into consideration all of these issues and ask for some degree of leniency.
You can do as much to help your own case as some expensive attorney can do for you on a traffic case.
Hope that your words impress the judge and that he woke up on the right side of the bed (has more to do with it than having an attorney present). Take your chances and hope for the best. Good luck
