Well it finally happened after almost three seasons first rain ever on my 04 vette . To make things worst a back hoe pulled out on the road in the rain in front of me mud all over the road. Traffic behind and in front made me go through all the mud . I actually was crying I could not believe it . The rain cloud came from no where and then a down pore . I spent the rest of the day cleanning my vette will never be the same now .
Guess what they were made to go in and not rust in water. They went through a water test at the plant, sat on the lot in weather, rode on a truck in weather, and they all survive.
We take our 03 on vacations and trips it gets dirty, wet, and bugs on it. I come home and clean it and it still runs great. It is just amazing that it still works after getting wet and dirty.
Come on it is a car, not a person. Just my .02 worth.
I have driven mine in the rain, I just hate doing it because I like to keep the car clean,,, and it's a pain in the azz to clean .. I know it won't melt I even had mine in the snow 1 time in the 3 years I have had it....but that was only because there was no salt from the plows...
salt on the road, then you won't catch me in my vette no matter what

Salt I can understand, but rain is no big deal. I was running at WGI at +130 mph in the rain. Car didn't mind at all.
I'm shocked, I'm a newbie and I was told C5's will actually melt in the rain if they get wet. Sort of like the wicked witch in the Wizzard of Oz when hit with water. Guess it's just urban legend!
Mine is in the rain every time it rains, it's my daily driver and here in Florida it rains daily (you can set your watch by it) in the afternoons. The car seem to handle getting wet just fine without any complaints.

Same here. I daily drive mine in the rain, no big deal.
If you just put your Vette in a museum, you won't have to worry about the rain. And you can stare at it all you want. Personally, I don't call that value. I know someone who has a '95 ZR1 with 250 miles on it. "But it has a 1000 coats of Zaino on it!" You wax yours, I'll be out driving mine.
