. . . and you forgot to mention that most cops . . . notice I'm saying most . . . have little penises. That's why we became cops so that we could carry a gun and make up for our lack of manliness. I've got both bases covered because I also drive a Vette, which makes me twice the man I really am.

Go to court and throw yourself at the mercy of the judge.

Get a Lawyer to fix the Ticket and forget about it. Either way you were speeding. I know at 82 you are only 7 over the speed limit, but some Police Officers will write it, and some will not. We are really only arguing over a difference of 5 to 6 MPH. Which is only a little more then a 7% difference. The argument that you weren't speeding that much, will not hold up in court.

If you go to a trial either before a jury or the Court and you are found guilty you need to ask for Deferred Adjudication Probation. The Court will put you on informal probation for about 3 months and if you don't get any moving violation in that period the ticket will not go on your record, no points or surcharges, and hopefully your insurance won't increase. Good Luck!

When you fight the ticket ask them to see the log books for the radar gun to make sure it was tested at least 4 times that day. They have to do a manditory check on the gun at least 4 times per shift or somethign like that at least here in Ontario. I got out of a ticket by using that one cause the cops never recalibrate the guns.

you must fight for a reduced charge at the minimum. Over 85mph is a 5 point ticket, that is TOO much to tolerated on a 12 point license suspension program.

I got one a few months ago and the DA let me go on 75 in a 70 reduced from 90 in a 70.

Fight it, or get it reduced.

First post at 4:07PM and the first "Stop Whining" response at 5:37PM.

It doesn't take long for the LEO butt-kissers to show up.

But on the LEOs side, thet are only human and we all know that
humans have faults.

So what really happened is that the LEO lied. That's a human fault.

Oh...BTW...I've had a really bad week so whatever you want to throw

This obviously helps you in no way, but in that stretch, I always keep it at 79. I've had a cop flash his light at me when I was doing 77 once.

I would just pay it, unless you think it is going to be a huge deal. I understand that it is the principal of the matter, not the money. I would guess that most judges don't feel too sorry for vette owners.

I hope you get it squared away.

Scott
(Mcmillan and Eagle)
Scott, that is the exact location of the infraction. And by the way, I live off McMillian and Five mile so that puts us about two miles away. The speedo was check in the section on I84 that you mentioned. And BTW, the tires are orginal, 11,000 miles, unmolested 2004 Z 06.

For others, my passenger is my girlfriend and she got all but in my lap leaning over to see the HUD. My comment about being professionals was in response to an earlier post, I don't think it matters if we are bean pickers or LEO.

And about my driving record, I have a 50 in a 35 ticket. Told the LEO it wasn't my fault the Chevrolet should never had sold ME such a vehicle. He laughed but still gave me the ticket. I threatened to sue Chevy and call him as an expert witness, more laughter but still got the ticket.

My insurance rate is extremely low but I fear my speeding (yes, I'm a speeder - what are you suppose to do with a Z 06 for god's shake) conviction will result in higher rates. I'll request probation, this will be easy since the car gets garaged all winter. I'll also speak with the officer prior to the hearing but he was awfully hard core when I attempted to speak with him at the time of his error, hopefully he will be in a better mood.

Until then I continue make turns fast enough to see the "active handling" light up. The car is just WAY TOO much fun to drive any other way.

And for the entertainment value thought I would share this additional part of the conversation with the LEO. It went something like:

LEO: So why did you have your cruise set at 83 (actually 82) anyways?
Speeder (that's ME): Maintaining traffic flow and have never had a problem in the past driving 83.
LEO: The speed limit is 75 and that's the speed limit.
ME: (Blank dumb stare - while thinking, where you going with this?)
LEO: Would you be driving 93 if everyone else was doing 93?
ME: I won't lie to you, yes, I would drive 93 just like everyone else.
LEO: (can't remember his response)
ME: Just like I'm not lying to you now when I said I was doing 83.
LEO made no further comments.

Hey, I am a discussingly honest guy, I'll admit to speeding and my speed was 82/83 mph. If they want to fine me for driving the same speed as many others on the road that doesn't upset me nearly as much as having a lie shoved down my throat. They confict me of 88 and I'll floor it next time I see a LEO starting a u-turn. I'll then get a lawyer if they catch me.

Thanks for all the constructive advice. My weekend starts soon, I'm out of here!

I understand your position and I agree you shouldnt have a ticket for 88 mph. However what is to be gained by going to court and insisting they fine you for 83 MPH instead of 88? Best thing to do IMO (in my opinion) is take the internet traffic school and call it a day. No sense on wasting a day in traffic court to have your speeding citation reduced by 5 MPH and still have to pay a fine and get a point on your record.

My are free!!

speeding is like telling lies, you only get cought at 1 out of 10. So divide the cost of the ticket by 10 and be happy you don't get cought more offen. guilty.

let's see: admittedly speeding & admittedly driving sans front plate in a state which requires same by law. the leos are not the bad guys bro; most of us would not want and could not do their jobs. take your medicine like a big boy; consider acting a tad more responsibly in the future. oh, and those that immediately push the "i'll get my lawyer" button----------please, this response is immature @ best & nauseating. some of us were actually able to cut the apron strings as we grew up. hope you can soon----or i'd venture that speeding tix are the very least of your perceived problems. bub

This is something I hear a lot but don't understand for speeds under
100 MPH. Almost ANY modern car or pick-up truck can go 100 MPH.

Why is it more "Glamorous" if I drive down the road at 95 MPH in my Z06 than if I drive down the road at 95 MPH in my 2000 Silverado Pick-Up truck? Makes no sense.

If you say that you bought a Vette so you can drive at speeds that almost no other car can maintain, Say 150 to 170 MPH, your statement makes some sense. Other than that, it's just ego..

OUCH, pretty darn harsh response and one I'll answer.

First, it is extremely common for individuals to drive 83 on I84 in Idaho. All my friends have no problem driving 85 on the stretch - no problem=no tickets.

When you say take your medicine, I equate that to roll over and let the man have his way with you because you're just a tax payer and and dammit he has a badge and months of training. How dare I question his superior training and intellect.

I see no lack of responsibility on my part. I admitted to 83.

One is an "idiot" if they go to court with out a lawyer when faced with charges. I don't know the law nor do I feel comfortable in such a hostile environment. "I'll get my lawyer" is an appropriate response when used in conjunction with "I'll get my lawyer to help me through this legal maze that the erroring LEO has placed me in."

Yes I have problems but you may note I have not made a single comment about you or your position. May I ask if you are a LEO or closely associated with that activity? Your strongly worded post suggest you are willing to take their position regardless of the evidence I've set forth.
