The LEO's on here are indifferent to your driving a Vette!! They do too!!
But lets admit that some are jelous of people who do drive Vettes. Just my .02
(ducking out of the line of fire now)
Let me just say this...
Anytime a police officers stops someone for speeding or any infraction he is putting his life in jeopardy. He does not know who is driving, or what they have just done.. Speeding is a crime.. doing 83 or 88 is against the law.. it pretty pathetic and childish to think that any officer of the law is jealous of your corvette, .. they could care less what you drive. You broke the law twice, No front tag. and speeding./.
Stop your whining.... and those idiots who suggest challenging the state certs on the gun, make me laugh.... they are in the business of making sure that when they go to court, they are prepared. Not only that, but it was premeditated speeding,,, you set your cruise to 82/83.... and gave no consideration for speedometer error.. OH yeah when was the last time you had your speedometer calibrated or your cruise control.. Freekin cry babies. Pay the ticket and slow down

I have checked my hud several times over the years at those flashing radar signs, and it has always been dead on, 04 vert, factory wheels. If the fine/surcharge is higher due to the speed cited, then I would definitely fight it. If the fine is the same, it seems like an effort in futility and frustration. Good luck though.
The guy behind you goin faster probably had the bigger radar signature and that is the speed that the LEO got, but he put 2+2 together and got 5.
This is why when I go on any road trips, I have my gps on the whole trip. It also logs speed the whole time. Nice to have if needed in court.
Fight it! This happen to me several years ago in which the LEO got another car instead of me. The LEO was reasonable on site and did not ticket me after making small talk. The LEO knew I was dead serious about my speed and that I would be going to court to protest. About 20 miles down the road 4 LEO's had the "other car" pulled over!! That was justice!
This is something I hear a lot but don't understand for speeds under
100 MPH. Almost ANY modern car or pick-up truck can go 100 MPH.
Why is it more "Glamorous" if I drive down the road at 95 MPH in my Z06 than if I drive down the road at 95 MPH in my 2000 Silverado Pick-Up truck? Makes no sense.
If you say that you bought a Vette so you can drive at speeds that almost no other car can maintain, Say 150 to 170 MPH, your statement makes some sense. Other than that, it's just ego..

Well, if you drive 95 MPH in a truck, you're not very smart. 'Vettes are made for speed- they're sports cars, and have the handling, tires, and aerodynamics to do so safely. Alright let's cut to the chase; everybody who hasn't punched it to feel that growl and g-force of accelarating fast to speeds in excess of the speed limit raise your hands. Let's see, uumm, anybody? I thought not.
I am from Idaho and when the speed limit was raised on Interstates from 65 to 75, I remember a high ranking state police official on the news saying the speed limit would be strictly enforced and citations would be issued at 81 mph or faster. As for your friends never having a problem they may have not been caught yet. The cops cant get everybody. As for the speed 83 or 88 (what ever) the fine is the same 62.00. If you go to court the judge will say anything over 75 is speeding, pay the fine at the clerks window. Do I speed ? yes Do I get caught? sometimes. When I do I pay the fiddler. Cops are not perfect, they do make mistakes. But in this case you are guilty either way. Just my .02........
I am not going to say whether the officer is correct or not, NO ONE was there except you and him and your passenger. Taking what some people are saying about LEO's "looking" for corvettes, and other expensive vehicles, try to expand your thought a little, perhaps, just perhaps, 1. he had someone call in a compaint on you-thus the reason for a stop, (seen in several times, and also had it happen) 2. A B.O.L.O. report came out for a vehicle fitting your description came out for possible stolen vehicle (Be On Look Out)=BOLO
3. Police officers talk, maybe you have been pulled over in the past and have been warned and he sees you disobeying the law frequently.
I am not talking about your particular instance about the 88 not being correct, that is between you and the court system. But people try to keep an open mind about things...being an LEO is more than meets the eye, you dont know what goes on over the radio, or over the whole town for that matter. Give him a break, lord knows once in your life a cop gave you a break.
