Oil pressure reading 128 PSI
Why would my oil pressure read 128 PSI even with the engine off? Is this just a glitch or an signal that something serious is wrong? My father had emergancy surgury last night so I need to head out of town tomorrow but I don't want to brake down in route or hurt the engine.

If you turn your ignition key to the on position, without starting the engine, and your oil press gauge stays maxed out, most likely the sensor is bad.
As mentioned above, a very common problem with the C5's.
I drove mine several months with the gauge pegged out until I could get the sensor replaced without having any problems.

Thanks everyone at least I shouldn't have to worry about the engine failing on me. Does anyone know how much replacing the sensor costs?

I think the factory sending unit is something like 65 bucks. Plus labor. I hear there is a better one available, not sure of the cost for that one though. (I'm going to look for the non-factory one. I already have a factory one and would now like one that actually works!)

Yep, probably a bad oil pressure sending unit. Replace it and your problem should be solved.

Replaced mine with one I got at Advance Auto Parts. Cost about $40 for the sensor. I used vectorZ's post and it took me the better part of a day. Jut don't forget to reconnect the vacuum line on the rear of the manifold! Good luck!
