mine gets black crap all over the inside of the tips i have. always has. they get washed when the car does. i suspect you reved it up on start up to blow that much out when it was cold. pretty normal to me and mine. water flew out the tail pipes and carried the black soot with it.
If your fuel trims are correct,,,,your exhaust will be clean! PERIOD! If you consuning crank case oil, your going to have more than a quart of oil consumed in a 1200-2000 mile. If your not seeing smoke upon cold start up your valve guides are more than likely not contributing to excessive oil compsumpsion. If your driving your car at Higher RPMs at light loads, your going to see more oil compsumpsumpsion than most C5 owners.
99 percent of the time,,, excessive exhaust emissions are caused by excessive fuel comsumpsion!!! Have someone with EF Live or HP tuners look at your tune and figure out where your excessive fuel compsunpsion is happening! If your LTFT's are out to lunch, well,,, there you go.
I don't seem to be consuming any more oil. Not sure about the gas (because I really don't care about that). Next time I go back to ECS I will have them take another look at the tuning. I really don't even care about the residue as long as it's not hurting anything.
