Last month I purchased my first Vette. It is a 2001 Magnetic Red Coupe. I finally got out of the driver's seat long enough to post this.
As my log in name implies, I still can't believe it's truly mine.
I will be checking a few of the boards, so as to not post repeat questions. But I do have one that I doubt I will find addressed elsewhere. The previous owner had 50th aniversery badges on her. I'm curious as to how best to go about removing them without damaging the paint. I'm reluctant to leave them on as this is not even the same year as the 50th aniv. edition. Any advise is welcome.
As long as they are not drilled through, use fishing line and goof-off to loosen up the double sided tape. Wax and your good. Welcome and enjoy the ride...

Congrats on the purchase. Just take a hairdryer and heat the emblem up a bit and then use a little fishing line/dental floss to saw through the tape. Should come off faily easy. Any remaining adhesive can be removed using WD-40 or something like Goo Gone.
The rear will come right off. Be careful about the front. I would assume that the front bumber is stock, if so then the emblem is set in drilled holes.
As other's have said a heat gun or hair dryer (keep it moving not focused in one spot and they will get hot to the touch just before you can peel them off. Clean up residual afterwards with 3M Adhesive Cleaner.)
Invest in a set of factory service manuals. About $130 see www.helminc.com. The '01 are a three manual set.
