I had an 04 Z that leaked whenever it rained. It leaked down the a pillar and onto the carpet, and the water would accumulate in the kick panel, under the steering wheel and drip down on my legs. Well, five repair attempts could not solve the problem, so GM bought it back under the lemon law. Well, I just picked up an 03 Z this morning and it started raining and this one leaks the same places but worse. Needless to say I wont be buying this car. The owner of the dealership where I bought it, has an 02 Z and I checked his car and it does the exact same thing. I figured before that my 04 was just a lemon, but now I see two other cars firsthand, that are doing the same thing. All different years too. I know these can't be the only three Z's that do this. Has anyone ever had this problem before? I now alot of you dont drive your cars in the rain, so maybe you never had the opportunity to see if it does. I wil try to take a picture and point out where the water leaks in at so you guys can check out your cars also. But if any of you have this problem please let me know.
Was this repair done before you bought it, or are you the origanal owner? Because if it was done before you had it, it may have been done because it was leaking. Noone could figure out where it was leaking from. I brought it to two different dealers. They replaced everything there was to replace, they even took the windshield out and resealed it, but nothing could stop the leak. It doesnt even have to be raining for you to check it. Just run a hose ovet the driver sdie on the roof and let the water run down the channel for about 30 seconds to a minute. Here is a pic of where yu wil see water trickling out of.
ANd if it rains for a long period of time, the carpet wil get soaked, and there might be some water in the kickplate above the pedals. You can put your hand up under it and feel for water.
Ok, well that means that it isn't a typical thing for them to leak. I cant believe the odds though of me owning one, just about ready to buy one, and having another one on the lot leaking. Maybe these are the only 3 in existance. I hope so, cause I want another one but dont want the leak.
I only drive my Z in the rain if I happen to get caught with it out in the rain.I havent noticed any leaking like that. When I wash the car it doesnt leak or I havent noticed any serious water intrusion.I check my cars pretty close.I believe I would have seen it by now.
Well luckily, I didnt sign a contract on the car yet. So it is not my headache, it is the dealers. I was so happy this morning too, when I went to pick it up. Oh well, it's not the only EB Z out there. Hopefully its the only one that leaks.
Yeah... my FRC leaks like a mother effer.... I need to figure it out soon because it is my dd, and I live in rainy NC, please send any info
Does it leak from the place I pointed out from my pic? If so, I dont think it can be repaired. Like I stated in my earlier post, 2 different dealers and 5 different repair attempts couldnt fix it. Have you ever tried to have it repaired? Are you the origianl owner. If you are you could go the lemon law route like I did. But if you are the second owner, then there isn't much you can do. Apparently, there is a problem with the FRC's and leaking.
03 Z06 here and parked outside at work last night in a nice rain storm and the car was bone dry inside as far as I could tell! I will monitor it tonight though.
EDIT: Went and checked the car and there is still water on the sill plate from me getting in and a slight damp spot on the mat underneath the clutch, but the carpet, a-pillar, and kick panel are bone dry.
Although maybe I just lucked out...

Reason: Checked the car, curiousity...
It's a problem I've fixed on several z06's including my own, remove the cowl and the wiper transmission there is a body seam right underneath it. That seam is your leak, apply a liberal coating of brush-able seam sealer and reassemble.
I am not the originakl owner... And my leak is coming from the top of the window on both sides... It doesnt get down there... it just soaks up into the headliner and then runs down the a pillars and drips right onto me

My '04 leaks in that exact same place. Can you post pix of the cowl and/or wiper transmission or a more detailed DIY?

I have an 02 Z06 and leaks like crazy. I'm currently in the process of redoing the weatherstripping and reveal moldings. Mine has a leak on both sides at the rear of windows that drips down onto the headliner going down behind the seats.
I also have the problem of the drivers side kick plate going down on your feet. Any help is appreciated. Chad
Wow, and all this time I thought I was the only one. Redoing the molding may fix the leak that is affecting your headliner, but it wont help the other leak. I am going to try to remove the cowl and wiper transmission, and try to see if I can see where it is leaking from and then seal it. If it works, I will let you know. I wil also take a pic of it. If that does fix it, then there are some not so bright technicians working for Chevy, cause none of the ones that looked at my car could fix it. Thanks, backnblack2003z06, for the advice. I am going to attempt the repair tomorrow.
Molding wll help, but I also think that the window can be angled differently which will create a better seal....either way...I would take it in for repair and have them replace anything that can start to mold.
