So what's your excuse???

A kidney stone at 330am on Good Friday 2004 was my epiphany. Riding in the ambulance to the ER I decided things could be serious the next time
So the NEXT day we took a test drive and bought it. Never looked back

I have wanted one since I was a kid. Spent hours on the computer looking at Corvette prices and ran across a deal I couldnt pass up.

Always wanted one. Finally pulled the trigger. Best decision I ever made. Only regret is not doing it sooner.

My Daughter made me do it

She was only 14 at the time, and I was always running her back and forth every day to Gymnastics. I'd always point out a Vette, and say I sure would like to own one someday before I leave this earth.

She picked up very quickly and started looking at Corvettes on the computer so she KNEW what they looked like. Then each day, she would drop a little hint and point one out on the way to or coming back from gym.

We had a wakeboard boat that was getting used less and less each year and as my son grew older, started hanging with his buds who also had boats....so she says, "Why not sell the boat and get a Vette, Dad?"

Once the seed was planted, I could not get it out of my mind. The rest is history.

Damn I Love my little girl!

My father had always loved them and finally splurged and bought a 99 blk vert when I moved away to TX. (I think he was trying to replace his little girl so he wouldn't be so sad ). When I visit him in NY he lets me drive it...ever since I got in it and actually drove it..it was ALL OVER!

Not to mention the payment was nearly the same as my damn Jeep Wrangler...once I realized that I nearly kicked myself in the *** for not doing it sooner.

The only sad part to the story is that my dad just had to sell his due to financial reasons because of medical expenses. I wish I had more $$ I would have paid off the rest for him so that he could still own his dream car. Hell, he's the reason I have mine today.

My dad has a '72 four speed and had it since the day I was born. I loved them growing up and I always wanted a bright red with a tan top, But i got a solid blakc one and absolutly love it.

And 2 years ago my brother bought his 01. He took me for a ride, then I drove it. Got back in the garage and looked at him and said Im gettin one. 2 months later I had it and been drivin the hell outta it.

My wife isn't particularly a car person, at least not hot rodding. She has hardly ever even ridden in my '63 Impala SS. Too loud, no air, etc.
One day she said " if you had a Corvette, I would ride in that."
She didn't have to tell me twice. She even wants to take some road trips and drive it herself.

I bought mine 3 months after my old lady moved out. Granted I'm only 25 but when she left I felt rich. I saw a good looking vette with a salvage title and it was only 16k so i checked insurance and it wasn't bad either. So i started saving and then jumped the gun when I found the car I wanted at a killer price 3 months before I wanted to buy. Now I go to pick up my licence plate on verry first vette tomrrow. Granted I didn't want the vert, but this one just stole my heart. As soon as the sun comes up we can find out if it's a chick magnet. It has to be better than that civic that cost me as much as my vette

I grew up with VW Bugs, Toyota Corollas, then in my wilder younger days, Fiat 124s, X1/9s. Always thought vettes were kinda big and bloaty. Autocrossed at lot including a built up SCCA prepared X1/9, then co-drove an Alexis Formula B for a couple of years. Then a friend offered me a drive in her SCCA B-Prepared 68 roadster. Boy, did all that torque put a big smile on my face. Went to the '86 nationals in that car and brought home a 2nd in class ( I can still see and tell you which pylon I hit); friend won her class. Bought the roadster and with my gf-wife, campaigned it for about 10 years. Drove my Ford F150 tow truck as my daily driver. Sold the vette and moved to Napa in '99 and began to consider buying a new SS Camaro. Began serious search for one when one day wife called me at work and said you gotta check out this red vette at Jimmy Vasser Chevrolet dealership. Vasser had this '94 6-speed with some Greenwood bodywork (rear spolier and sills); wife and I drove it, went home and did the Kelley Blue Book thing then went back and made an offer and drove it home. Since the wife and I are kinda on the large size, the C4 was a PITA! Great once you were in it, PITA trying to get in or out. Then the weekend after 9/11 drove by Vasser's again and there was this Torch Red C5 coupe/6-speed. 2001 but a year old (Sept 00 in-service date) lease return. Loved it and still have it. Still puts a smile on my face.

When I was 3 years old my Dad bought a new '69 Z28 and then a new '71 SS. As I was growing up, he and my uncle use to build their cars and go racing out a S.I.R. (Seattle International Raceway) My uncle had a 66 Chevelle that ran 10.80's, and by the time I turned 16, he had grown tired of it. After it sat in the back yard for a year, he finally gave in a sold it to me for $2000. Ever since then I've been a Diehard Chevyman who's bought, built, and raced them as much as possible over the years. (Hence my screen name)

I've owned 4 Chevelles, 2 Novas, and 9 Camaros,(90% were pre '73)........so basically the only thing left I hadn't owned yet was a Vette. Finally, after doing some consolidating last summer, I found a screaming deal on the '98 I currently own, and I'll never be without one again. And, making the decision to purchase a 5th Gen couldn't have been any easier for me. Other than '63-67, it's the only body style I actually like.
