I remember looking at a 1956 inside the showroom at the chevy dealer and fell in love with it then but dad would not get it for me because it was to expensive it ran alittle over $4,000 dollars big bucks in those days.
The Mid Years are still the most beautiful to me but I wanted something that would be more of a daily driver and I was comfortable taking trips in.
These are part of what I have worked all my life for.
I continue to be amazed at the C-5's features and performance every day !
God bless America !

Reason: add a pic
I have a little Pecker and they say owning a vette makes it grow bigger, well this is my forth vette, and you guessed it! I still have a little Pecker. I guess I will keep buying vettes because veryone say's that's the only reason we have them...
1) Wanted once since i was a kid.
2) Finially was financially stable enough where i could justify buying one.
3) Used C5 Z06's are one of the best performance bargains to be had.
I have always love the look of the Corvette. Bought my first one, a '73 coupe, in 1985 at age 30. The wife and I bought a new '81 a few months later. Traded in the '81 on a new '82 a year later. Sold the '82 a couple of years after that, then sold the '73. Bought a '80 L82 and kept it about 8 months. The '82 that we once had came up for sale again, so I bought it again. Kept it about a year and sold it again. Did without for several years until I found a '90 vert. Bought it and kept it about a year. Sold it and a week later found the '01. I am now 52 yrs. old. Like someone else said, I still want a Z06.
I grew up on the east side of Detroit. I loved cars from an early age. My father tells me I was identifying the different automotive brands since I learned to speak.
There wasn't a shortage of "hot" cars in my neigborhood. There were many Mopars since most of the male population on my street worked for Chrysler (inluding my father).
In the autumn of 1965, I was seven years old. My then 17 year old sister's boyfriend pulled up to pick her up in a brand new silver 1966 Sting Ray coupe. That car sparked something emotionally in me that still exsists today. He actually allowed me to sit in the car. Probably trying to prove to my sister he was a nice guy. It's a moment I'll always remember.
Recently I purchased a very low milage 2002 ZO6. The spark has been re-ignited.

Have wanted a vette since they began. Course, as a kid, I just kept dreaming of having one some day. It's amazing how fast time flies by and you find yourself still dreaming. Reality hits when your son buys a 2001 Z06 and you drool some more. I thought he might even let me drive it. HA! More reallity. So life was telling me to get moving. Santa(me) found a 99 pewter coupe with my name on it and put it in my garage two months ago.
Mine:
I had a 1998 Deville, which was an excellent car. Northstar was awesome, but still it just didn't do it for me. I looked at Mercedes E430, S500, BMW 740iL, Jaguar XJ8, even another Cadillac, but an STS. I found several I was interested in and did some research. Overall, these cars were okayin reliability, but basic replacement parts were $$$$$$$. Sort of a turnoff, especially the reliability factor. Then, I checked insurance quotes on them.
My Deville with full coverage was $265 every 6 months.
Mercedes E430, S500, etc: $395 every six months
BMW 740iL: $400 every 6 mos.
Jaguar XJ8: $609 every 6 mos!!!!! WHY???
Cadillac STS: Same as Deville, but again it's still another Cadillac.
Just for the hell of it, I searched for Vettes online. I've always wanted one, but never thought of included it in my searches. Reliability factor was above the other vehicles. Then I plugged in the numbers for an insurance quote.
Get this: $360 every six months!! for full coverage? Holy sheep, how cheap!!
Never would of guessed that. Well, long story short, I have a 98 in the driveway....and never looked back!
Somewhat similar story. Corvettes have long been my favorite car - my parents will tell you that it was the 1st word I said after mommy and daddy. About 7 years ago while living in CA I was trading in a Wrangler for something with a little more perf (on-road). I looked at used 3-Series and at a BMW lot came across a used 94 vette 6-spd. Always thought I could never afford the insurance but looked anyway. To my surprise it was barely any different than the Beemer. Didn't buy that car but started my search. Eventually found a 91 6-spd a month later and now I am on Corvette #3, a 97 6-spd.

That about sums it up.
Was into cars as soon as I could say the word. Saw Corvettes very seldom as child but remember "Route 66" and "Father Knows Best" to check out the latest Corvettes and Chevys.
Father's cousin gets married in 1964. Engineer taking masters at MIT works summer job for construction company and gets a big bonus. Buy's 64 corvette ( tripple black roadster) has it at wedding. I'm eleven first one I see close up as its having cans tied on the back and being covered in wedding decoration. Decide then and there to get one.
Buy my first in 1978 (1977 L48 coupe) after working couple of years as an engineer. Add a 71 Lt-1 in 1981. Sell 1977 in 1982. Sell Lt-1 in 1989 and buy new 89 roadstr. Sell 1989 roadstr in 2001 and buy 1999 roadstr. Planning on a C7.
Hope I always have one. Rule is I won't sell one without a replacement.
I don't even remember how young I fell in love with Corvettes, we have a '67 427 in our barn and I probably put more wear in the seat from just sitting in it than when it was driven, and now since my dad doesn't have to pay for college he let me by my first car a 99FRC. Now the passion is just going to grow.
