It was either a Fiero or a Vette. It was spring time of 1983 and I could'nt take another day of looking at the rusted fenders of my '72 Olds Delta 88.

Bought a '77 Vette and that's when the bug hit.

My best friend from college has a 66 big block vert... I was looking around to buy something fun. I always liked the C5, but assumed it would not be in my price range. he sorta put the bug in my ear to try on a C5, and I was hooked.

I've always loved sports cars. Couldn't afford a 'Vette when I was younger, though I did manage to drive a 911T Targa for a couple of years. Then, came the marriage and family. Kids took over, had to buy "practical" cars -- minivans, SUV's, etc. Last year, it was finally "time" with two of the three kids reaching adulthood.

I originally set out to buy a Benz SLK32 AMG, because I wanted the power retractable hardtop and some decent performance, but when I took one for a test drive I felt cramped and uncomfortable.

I decided to try a C5 vert on a whim when I saw one advertised locally by a used car dealership. It was not the right car for me, but it was a real eye-opener. Loved the steering and acceleration, and once I realized how good the top was (easy to operate, well-insulated, etc.), that was it. It had to be a C5 vert and there was no looking back. It's been the most fun per gallon that I've ever had, and that includes the Porsche, which was a great car.

I needed something to replace my 1984 Toyota pick-up with 300,000 miles on it. I figured it was a 2 seater, I could manage with another 2 seater .... I didn't realize I would become a celebrity though !!

Since I was old enough to remember I have always wanted a Corvette. My oldest sister married a guy who owned several older ones, and from that point on it became a sickness. I finally thought I was cured after I owned my 1990 coupe for 7 years, and sold it. The fever came back as soon as the next summer rolled around. I cured it with a 2000 vert.

When I saw my first C4, Which I didn't know the generation designations then, I loved it. Then I worked with an older Gentleman that had an '87, that had a roots style supercharger and alky injection on it. The day he left the parking lot, completely dry parking lot, and just patted the accelerator and the car went completely sideways, I LOVED IT. Then at the same job, My manager was currently driving a 2000 Coupe. Black, targa, all the bells and whistles...I begged her to let me drive it. She finally gave in, and I drove it alright....Man I loved that car. I am just waiting my turn to get one.

Speaking of, Anyone near Georgia, want to offer a low priced C5 to a lonely soul? Just though I'd try!

I never thought I'd be like a corvette until my buddy dropped a cammed LS1 into an RX7. I bought my Z06 because I needed a reliable daily driver to replace my RX7tt that I had for 10 years(with many mods).

I was always interested in vettes. It wasn't practical after HS so I got a Saturn (best bang for the buck, fuel economy, performance). After grad school it was only a matter of time before I got the other 4 cylinders I was missing. Gotta have a V8! Again, it was the best car for the money, great performance, styling, and makes a good DD.

I wanted a Vette since I saw the first one at 4 years old. It was a 57 in red of course. I loved all Vettes. It's all I ever talked about and thought about. As I got older, married and became a father, every year at any of the holidays - my family would ask me what I wanted and I always said the same thing - "A Corvette". I got close a couple of times, but something came up and owning a Vette wasn't practical or affordable.

In 2003 - I was 49, the Corvette was 50. My wife said to me...."If you want one, go get one, we'll probably never be in a better position."

Long story short - I found my car around Thanksgiving - negotiated the deal over the phone and flew to Chicago the Friday after Thanksgiving. I saw that car when the seller backed it out of the garage, and it was head over heels in love. I got very emotional. I drove it - gave the man the money and took off for Phoenix. It was one great road trip, and one that I will never forget. I have never looked back or regretted any of it for a single moment. It was the best thing I ever did, buying this car.

Through ownership of this car, I have met the finest people I have ever met in my life - here on the Forum and in person....we are all part of a brotherhood/sisterhood.

I will never part with my first Corvette. I may own another someday, but I will always have a very special place in my memory and heart for that car. I feel blessed to able to own a legend.

In 1999(march), I bought a Mustang GT. S/C with full suspension in Aug 1999....great car. (360rhp/352trq). I sold it in 2001 to allow me to purchase a condo in San Jose, CA. Married in 2001 of Aug. In 2003, once stable again after condo and wedding, I started to look for a car.

I looked into the 03 Cobra....but also wanted something that I did not need to mod at all. One day I went to my hometown in SoCal. Test drove a Spiral Grey Cov C5. LOVED IT! I think that was in Sept 03. Wife doesnt like Conv, so like I said I wanted soething I didnt need to mod. Looked into the Z06 and decided to buy one sometime in June July of 04. Well Jan 04, $11k off MSRP and 0% finance push me and took my 04 MY Z06. Flew down south and drove it back north.

Great car and I though the handling was soooo much better than the Cobra. Three years later, the engine compartment is still in stock form.

When the dealership picked me up from the airport, they had the car waiting for me.

Too bad they dont know how to take pictures with the owner.

I bought a vette because it's AMERICAN!!! It's the best sports car for the money. I would rather buy a vette and spend $$$ modding it, than buying a $100,000+ european sports car. USA all the way!!!!!!

I bought my 1st Vette a little over a year ago to resell it in a week or to. It was a nice 92.
Long story short I modded it to my stile and kept it for about a year or so.

So Im glad I got the 1st one that lead to my 97 that I have now.
The reaon I got it was to enjoy it and its a easy place to store any exdra cash.

You think that's cheap? I just bought a 98 2 weeks ago and insured it with my 96 Ranger and 90 FXR Harley, full coverage, and it only cost me an additional $300 a year with Allstate. I'm 59 and have an excellent driving record.

Default My First Corvette

It was December 1965. I'm 17 years old. I get a Monogram plastic 1/8 scale model of the 65 Coupe (blue) for Xmas. December 1985 I buy a 65 Coupe (blue). Owned it for 5 years and then had to sell her in 1990 to get the 'ol lady out of debt (ex 'ol lady now). January 07 on my birthday I buy a 97 Coupe (white) and I'm back in the saddle!

I bought a corvette because of the way it performs and looks. I've always had the need for speed.... and it helps that the chicks dig it too
