Finally got my rattle fixed. As most of you know, there have been noise problems with some MTI six-shooters. Some of them rattled, some didn't. I unfortunately had a rattler.
On Wednesday MTI swapped mine out for their new re-designed unit and I am exstatic. Same great action but with zero noise... and I mean none. They really got it right this time.

That's great news. Are they planning to do this for everybody that had a rattling shifter?
how does the mti shifter compare to other shifters, sans the noise problem? Is it really stiff/hard to move side to side like the hurst is?How is the 2-3 shift?is it smooth or notchy
I have an MTi six shooter, just installed a month ago, my hardest shift is 1- 2.........I dont' know if it's a shifter fork problem, or syncro, I mean I really have to pull towards me and apply pressure on the right side of the **** to keep it over in the 1-2 gate. All the other shifts are fine. I even went back in to adjust the shifter base with the eliptical holes to no avail and I already did the anti venom treatment......if it wasn't for the 1 - 2 , i would really like it.

hmmm...my dads 00 coupe had a problem where it wouldnt go into second above like four grand or so. we thought it was the tranny but it wast the transmission. we took out a textralia clutch that had about a thousand miles on it and it is toast. not sure what the deal is/was,yet.

I find it smooth into every gear and not at all what I would call notchy. The 5-6 change is a little different than the rest but I seem to remember it being different with the stock shifter as well.

I have had stock, B&M ripper, and the MTI.
Stock was perfectly quiet but long throws and a little sloppy.
B&M was too much of a throw reduction and rattled like mad.
MTI is perfectly in the middle of the previous two - but still rattles pretty bad in igher RPM's.

Sounds like you upgraded to a third generation unit from the second gen. When I got my six-shooter it was the second gen. unit that didn't require the core parts from the stock shifter, it rattled obnoxiously. Ironically, I traded it for one of the first Gen. units and the rattle is gone. Now there is occasionally a slight buzz, but I think some kind of a damper will fix that.

You're right about the 3rd gen. vs. 2nd gen. From what I was told, MTI essentially added what you described, i.e. a damper of some description. I'm not sure if it's something that could be retro-fitted to an earlier version. I know in my case they chose to just swap the units.

Reason: typo
As some of you know, development continues on the shifter in the quest for a near silent shifter with all the qualities we are looking for.
We have done some test cases and are happy with the results.
It will probably be two months until the latest version in ready however.
Until then we ask that everyone be patient and wait until we make a public announcement that the new assembly is ready.
To clear up a little confusion, the shifters that rattle tested well in cars we tried. It was only based on field testing that we released the solid billett assembly and some have had no problems.
We would NOT have released the shifter if it had problems.
In fact, we will be selling the billett assembly as a RACE only shifter as it works perfectly.
We'll keep you posted and again thanks for the support.
Please do not expect a specific time line yet. I've been through that with other products long ago and people really get upset when they expect something to arrive at a certain time and it doesn't. We've been saying "two months" as a gauge, but really we can't say exactly. Many factors determine when this shifter will be ready, too many to spell out a finish date right now. It could fall together fast or setbacks could occur; it takes time to get new things rolling. Alpha prototypes are in cars and doing well, far better than the previous design. This validates the fundamental core of the new design. Other significant improvements are pending in the beta prototypes that will need tested, but we are still waiting on the machine shop to finish those parts. The best thing to say is that you can be sure when the time comes we will be making very public announcements that will be hard to miss. It will be on the order of months, hopefully not more than a few. I can tell you this shifter will be everything you always wanted but could never find, it will be like no other.

It's probably a little early to be asking this part - but...
Will MTI be trading out their earlier versions (rattlers) for the new version at no cost to the customer other than shipping expenses, will the old shifters be traded for new ones at a reduced price, or will we be required to pay full price for the new shifters?

I would like to know as well. Cause I dont' feel like waiting for another few months and get told that I have to spend another $200 on a shifter. And for those of us that received $100 check in the mail, was that suppose to a 50% refund of the shifter? Will we able to send back the defective shifters back and get a working one without any other charges except for maybe shipping?
The reason why I'm living with this annoying rattle is that I'm hoping to get it replaced. Otherwise I would've been shifting through a Hurst a few months ago.....
