I am curious about this part - people have been getting $100 checks in the mail? Were you maybe talking about the $50 core credit?
No, I thought it was for that too. I never got my core back, or maybe they added $50 on top of the core thinking that it would make it right?
I don't know, the lack of communication in this whole deal is almost annoying as the rattling. All I got with the $100 check was a copy of the invoice, with no explanation at all.

Will MTI be trading out their earlier versions (rattlers) for the new version at no cost to the customer other than shipping expenses, will the old shifters be traded for new ones at a reduced price, or will we be required to pay full price for the new shifters?

Interesting - have to see how this pans out in the future...
I wonder why MTI hasn't come back to answer any of the questions? I've got a rattler in second and would be interested in knowing if they are going to take care of the shifter and at what cost. Might be time to find another shifter without a rattle.
Post content retracted. As the first poster asking about this figured, it is far too early to get much into this, and I cannot speak on MTI's behalf. My original post was simply my view, I do not work for MTI. When the time comes MTI will address any problems as they see fit.
[QUOTE=zrchris;1559721859]I don't know what the $100 check thing is about, but one way or another yes we will work with those that have problems with the "competition" units that used no stock core parts. It will be a few months but yes they can be rebuilt. QUOTE]
So are you saying that when the new design is finalized, we will need to ship the defective unit to be repaired and be without a shifter. Or will MTI ship a working one to us first and we can return the defective ones after they're swapped out?
That is not for me to determine, and it is too early to address it. I'm just trying to relay what I can in place of MTI staff, I'm not an employee, just a contractor.
I also have a second generation MTI 6 shooter and would be interested in some type of exchange program for the third generation unit. Mine is currently out of the car.

This my be a "done deal" in your eyes... unfortunately those of us with original units that rattle disagree. I urge you to include original units in any exchange program you come up with.
It would be a shame to see you alienate your existing customers by NOT supporting them. If I have to replace my shifter by paying in full for a replacement, that replacement won't be from MTI.
Again, any exchange programs are not yet determined and not my decision, I do not represent MTI. Whether or not MTI addresses those few first gen units with rattle issues, has not in any way been discussed, and no conclusions should be drawn about it.
Looks like I start shopping for a replacement shifter other than MTI. I have the first generation and complained about a rattle at high revs in second gear and it still being notchy. Looks like they will hang the first generation out to dry.
Anyone know of a good short throw shifter that doesn't rattle?? Apparently MTI doesn't either. Thanks for nothing MTI!!!

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that MTI does the right thing
