i don't have an "ad" comfirming this but there are people here in the tri-state of NY/NJ/CT that are selling pristine c4s for 4000. /5000. dollars ! look it up it you have the time, i have no more info than anyone else
just like you said in one of your other "posts" they can ask for that, that don't mean they gonna get !
I agree, that price is high but in all fairness a late C4 is similar money to an early C5. That makes the C5 a better deal if for no other reason than the LS1.

well to be fair, i was responding to your" the c4 is not a 5000.00 car" comment, when in fact, its probably less (in many cases) than that ! the fact that a 90 has only 123000 miles, means it was driven way less than the average 12000 a year. that in itself means that the engine could be a better running /working engine than something with lots less mileage, depending on maintenance, right ? this ad by the way,is no less harebrained tha a "96" c4 in the 20000.00 range is it ?

According to KBB a 97 Corvette is 17K a 96 is 14K with the LT1
not the LT4 or a collectors edition just a base model 96 coupe.
The pricing between the C4 and C5 isn't much. You can argue it if it makes you feel better but it is what it is. Do I think the C5 is a better car ? Sure I do, it is ! Is there a huge price difference between the two ?? NOPE I'm done with this one though. Have fun !!

i never argued that c4 late/c5 early prices are close. late c5/early c6 prices are close. what i said was a c4 could be owned for 4000/5000 dollars, even a later model 95 was being sold around here for 5500 and it was clean in and out. my personal feeling was that it was a steal, but when cars are sold privately, they tend to be a lot less
In this debate, it seems the criteria for arguments is focused on how fast and better handling. I think there are thousands of other and better examples of a comparison and/or likeness that should be debated or discussed for this be some thing more than mine is bigger than yours.
As an example: The LT1 has the opti-spark distributor and the LS1 has coil overs. With the positioning of the opti under the water pump and the fact that coolant will damage the optical discs, the change over to coil overs is just one point of how the C5 is better improvement upon the C4.
Likeness, Corvette still uses a surge tank to supply the radiator which is similar for both designs. However the C5 design some how does away with the overflow tank, and uses a semi-clear bottom with markings to determine the amount of coolant. Likeness with improvement.
Improvement: Yes the C4 approaching wipers were kewl as I always felt that made them different then nearly any other vehicle. However, kewl isn't so kewl when they collide and one pops out towards the hood, and you have to deal with this during a rain storm while driving. The C5 design is a very efficient and effective wiper system.
As I said before, I love all corvettes.....but each generation will be better than the previous....thats just expected and will be done for years to come...or sales will drop and nothing will be learned.
the C4 is not as advanced as the C5 and the C6 is more advanced than the C5 as will be the C7, C8 etc. etc. its just the Way of the Vette!
Drove a C5 (2002) for the first time today. Yeah it was faster than my 92 but I wasn't impressed. The ride felt like I was driving a really fast version of my dad's Town Car.
I like that my C4 handles and rides like true sports car.
Town Car? That's a first for comparisons. You don't by chance abuse alcohol or other controlled substances, do you?
