So where do you get off placing personal judgement against me? You didn't consider (or didn't believe) the facts I stated in the initial post, let alone the fact that you have no personal knowledge of the location . . .
I hit the water as I entered the westbound on-ramp to Hwy 820 at the intersection of Blue Mound Road and Hwy 820 (near the "J" in Jim Wright Freeway). Here's a map. It's not like I was off the beaten path.
Again, I didn't know it until I saw the splash and heard the problem. As I waited for the tow truck, I watched the cycle repeat itself over and over. The 1st car each time hit the water full bore accelerating, every car after them slowed down and tried to go right or left. The 1st car in each cycle of cars through the path never saw the deep water.
Do you really have to try hard to be a dick or does it just come natrually? For Christ's sake why is it that everyone but you understands it was unexpected deep puddle...all water is not deep. I suppose you never drive your car in rain based on that idiotic statement. I have a feeling you are just an attention ***** trying to stir up the pot for no reason...get a life.
I got word from the shop that yes I will need a new motor and AAA's policy is new parts. At this time it appears as though I may have several options available to me, hopefully by the end of today, I'll have more specifics from AAA.
For those of you surprised that this is covered, this is no different than driving into a hail storm. I drove into something caused by weather and damage occurred, that's why we all buy insurance.
So far, I have been extremely pleased with how AAA has handled the claim. 1st class service and I expect it to continue.
I have AAA TX. I believe the AAA motor club offers insurance in many states and AAA TX is a subsidiary of the motor club.

I read this post last night. I didn't respond. I tried to ignore it. I can not.
Have you never made a mistake? Have you never driven through a puddle of water? Perhaps if the puddle was a little deeper than expected you may have had this same thing happen to you.
I hate the "superior to though" attitude that you have expressed in this post.
I'm done here. I just had to get this off my chest. I wish you well and hope that rainy weather never comes your way.

I think the members of CF are generally of a much higher character than I encounter in the general public. This azz is the exception that proves the rule.
74- glad to hear the insurance co. is handling things amicably thus far. On the bright side, think of how great that first drive will feel when you get her back.

You apparently have not taken time to read the entire thread...according to the OP, AAA is covering the incident and he is very pleased in the manner in which they are handling the claim.
I was on a highway frontage road, stopped at the light and when it turned green I proceeded across the intersection to the highway on ramp and drove right through unexpected "deep" water. I heard clanking as she tried to keep running but died. I rolled her to the side of the on ramp and walked to the closest store and called AAA for a tow. I'll be surprised if none of my rods are bent.
She's sitting in the driveway, cold and wet and I feel sick to my stomach.
I just got done calling in the claim to AAA (I have insurance with AAA too, home and auto).
I'll be posting another thread for shop recomendations for engine rebuild/replacement.
man, i feel for ya. i did the EXACT same thing to a '90 IROC camaro i used to own. better days are ahead.
