Glen - you are wasting your time trying to explain what happened to mwagne16. He obviously can't or doesn't want to understand that this is a community (admittedly an online community) and the people that frequent it care about each other - and feel for each other when one suffers a problem, crisis or loss. This is obviously an individual that feels better when he makes someone else feel worse, in this case by calling you a name.
Again - I am sorry for your troubles and I wish you good luck in getting your car repaired to your satisfaction.
Let the flame suits come out, I'm not going to bash anyone but on the other hand I AM NOT GOING TO INSTALL a varram or any other type of bottom sucking CAI knowing the rain and other potential water problems we have here. If I am driving and the water becomes so deep, which it does here, I pull the car to the side, throw up the hood and stand in the pouring down rain and act like I'm stalled before I plow through anything. We get a lot of water here, it's something I always have to keep a watch on. I'd love to rebuild my motor but it's nice to do it when you want to do it.

That is grate you are geting it fixed. When the ins. pays for it will you have a flood title or something like that?
I was very surprised to know that it was covered. I wonder if anyone missed out not knowing.
Glenn, just disregard the ignorance of a selected few.
Contact forum member 5W0P3 (he is a buddy of mine) as he is close to you and just got his forged NA 403 built very close to where you are from. He keeps telling me how good the machine shop was etc. I am sure he will be able to help you.
When I see someone fall, I help them up. When a drunk stumbles to the ground in a bar, I just shake my head. Where do you draw the line? Maybe when the lapse of judgement results in someone breaking their Vette into a child. Go support them next.
So where do you get off placing personal judgement against me? You didn't consider (or didn't believe) the facts I stated in the initial post, let alone the fact that you have no personal knowledge of the location . . .
I hit the water as I entered the westbound on-ramp to Hwy 820 at the intersection of Blue Mound Road and Hwy 820 (near the "J" in Jim Wright Freeway). Here's a map. It's not like I was off the beaten path.
Again, I didn't know it until I saw the splash and heard the problem. As I waited for the tow truck, I watched the cycle repeat itself over and over. The 1st car each time hit the water full bore accelerating, every car after them slowed down and tried to go right or left. The 1st car in each cycle of cars through the path never saw the deep water.
That same guy has posted some other absurd comments in some other peoples threads. F' him. Good luck with the repairs, sorry to hear of your woes being compounded by some idiots who can't read or understand (comprehension) of the facts.
Here's a link to another one of his great messages.
Ignore idiots like mwagne16. His mentality is not what this forum is about. Don't waste your time trying to explain. I know what it is like to live in an area where there are sudden downpours and hidden waterholes that you cant avoid. Best of luck to ya man.
Hope everything turns out okay with your car. Just curious. You have AAA insurance. Is this the same triple A ins. we have in California, or company of the same name in Tx? Just curious. Good luck with your repair.
I got word from the shop that yes I will need a new motor and AAA's policy is new parts. At this time it appears as though I may have several options available to me, hopefully by the end of today, I'll have more specifics from AAA.
For those of you surprised that this is covered, this is no different than driving into a hail storm. I drove into something caused by weather and damage occurred, that's why we all buy insurance.
So far, I have been extremely pleased with how AAA has handled the claim. 1st class service and I expect it to continue.

I have AAA TX. I believe the AAA motor club offers insurance in many states and AAA TX is a subsidiary of the motor club.
Well, sorry about the 'down time' needed for the repairs - but hopefully they will be of short intervals.
For those expressing the opinion it is the 'fault' of the aftermarket intake - do a search on this Forum - you WILL FIND this issue (hydro lock) HAS OCCURRED with the stock (OEM) intake In the future it would be beneficial if you restrained yourselves from proving your ignorance by using the search feature of the Forum, here is a handy guide:
As to the idiot posts responses (I.e., "... when the lapse of judgment results in someone breaking their Vette into a child.") I can only surmise that some are youngsters, and cannot but help providing us proof of their ignorance
I guess that's where you and I are different. When I see someone fall, I too, will help them up. When someone here makes an error in judgement that he admitted - he clearly stated that he encountered UNEXPECTED deep water - I don't rub his face into it and call him mentally challenged.
I offered him luck with the repairs - you on the other hand called him mentally challenged. I'm not supporting anyone other than to wish them luck. Did you happen to notice that nearly all if not all except you wished him luck and offered advice?
I guess most everyone here is supportive except for the small minority that make themselves feel better and smarter by offering nothing other than name calling and finger wagging.
So enjoy your self perceived superior intelligence - hopefully alone in the corner. Have a great evening.
74-Roadster that is great news. Glad to see this is going to end up working out for you. Hopefully if you wish, you will be allowed to make a few upgrades in the HP. Good luck getting it back on the road soon.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I just wanted to say sorry about your mishap, but also compliment you on your character and sense of fair play. I'm sure it's all going to turn out great for you if it hasn't already.
Glynn, really sorry this happened to your beautiful ride. Hope things work out so you can turn this into a RWHP improvement opportunity if that's what you want.
