A4 vs. M6
Apparently some people consider it a sin to have a sports car with an automatic transmission. Living in a rather crowded part of town where there's a light every 6 feet, i'd think that owning a manual would be a total pita.
Question: what are the pros/cons of having a manual vs. an auto?
point taken. My apologies for not using the search engine.

If I had the cash, I'd buy both.
They both kick ****, I have had both, but like the 6-shooter more (given my drive and what I like to do with the car).
draggers = a4
road course folks = m6
all = VETTE nutz

I live in the most densely populated state, but I wouldnt trade my m6. My Camaro was an a4 and it just wasn't as fun.

Obviously this topic has been beaten to death. It's a personal choice. For me, how can i drive with my chin in my hand and elbow on the console if I gotta shift all the time?
I'm sick of shifting. And if I want to, I just run through the gears with the auto.

I've got the A4, love it, will keep this vert forever, the next one will be the M6, don't dwell on it, just get what you first thought was.

The pro vs con thing is a myth. It comes down to what you personally want to drive in the environment that you have to drive. Trafic is a big concern. If you like to shift, then shift. If you like the ease and freedom of an auto, then don't shift.

It sounds like you're leaning towards an auto, and that's fine. Get the transmission that makes sense to you, and drive it like you stole it!

i agree with this, except for the fact that the A4 with a stall and with the performance gears or a gear upgrade for the 1/4 mile.
Its also a matter of preference.

Really no pros and cons for either - it all comes down to what you prefer to drive given your traffic situation and driving style.

I have a 97 A4.
When the Dealer pulled my car around for me to see for the first time.
I did not care if it was A4 or a M6. That said for me I like auto a little better. Easy to drive and over all better resale.

Get what you want, the 1953, 1954 Corvettes only came in 2 speed autos and who would not like to have one of them.

This is a Corvette Forum.
It is NOT against the rules to post same topic every day or every week.
I think that people who feel offended by it beat a dead horse themselves posting the same old horse.

By the way, its a matter of personal reference. I would only want a manual c5.

There are lots of threads I don't want to read. Soooo... I don't read them. I definitely don't post to them. Why don't you do likewise?
