In Illinois we have a reciprocate agreement with all surrounding states, meaning if you do something in one state your home state will find out. Which could lead to your license being suspended or your state not allowing you to renew your license. Just call the court building to find out how much the ticket is and pay it. JMO

I'd take whatever fine is imposed...then double it.

(I want my taxes to be lower)

Accept the blame and learn from it. It will make you a better person in the end.

Hard to find a better answer than that......

Since this is a hypothetically question It doesn't matter what you do!

Default Non-resident violator compact between NY and Mass

Mass and NY are members of a non-resident violator compact between states, which means that the court with jusrisdiction in the case notifies your home state of the failure to pay the fine. Your home state suspends your right to drive until you have paid the fine and cost and then charges a reinstatement fee to get your license back.

Hey when you get picked up and are in jail serving your time.....I will keep your car out in San Diego where it is nice and warm and can stay next to my C-5 convertible. Make sure there is a Fox camera crew filming "COPS" OK, that way we can all see you!

More mod money.

Only pay what you have to.

States have reciprocating agreements for sharing info. When your DMV plugs your license renewal into the computer that unpaid ticket will show up.

Statute of limitations has nothing to do with your question. SoL deals with how long after a violation is committed, can you be cited, which is 2 years for most jurisdictions.

For your question, since the cite was issued, the warrant or license suspension could remain for life until taken care of.

If this theoretical ticket driver went to a theoretical gray bar hotel, what would you want the theoretical forum members to send to the theoretical person in the theoretical jail? Theoretically speaking. Theoretically, Taste Kakes are nice.

Pay the ticket. We, as adults, need to be good examples to the younger members of the forum. Chalk it up to experience. The law is the law.

Look at it this way. How many other times did you (or I) speed without getting stopped? I keep telling that to myself for the next cop who will someday stop me. Everybody's number comes up at some time.

Good luck.

I dont know about your place but we/I run about 80 tickets a month, approx. 4 per day and have never got a hit from out of state on a traffic warrant, all other kind of warrants come through and if that state refuses to extridite, we (unarrest) if you know what I mean.

Same way with DPS, we get one of their warrants, and before we confirm it we find if a trooper will take the arrested person, if so he is placed under arrest and we wait on the trooper, impound the vehicle or whatever. If he can't come to the scene immediately once again we (unarrest) them again and say "Have a nice day, press hard, 3 copies" for the
citation we wrote them and they go on the way.

Us too in California,, and if the guy was a real AH we would take him to the station where he could wait in a secured area. I used to love the Holiday warrant round ups when the smucks came home to see moma-

what if the original state wont extradite the perp. and you have them in your custody ???
Aren't ya kinda left holding the bag ?
Exactly right. If the out of state jurisdiction won't extradite (especially when you consider that if a traffic citation is the subject of the warrant and probably over 90% of them are misdemeanors) the local jurisdiction will NOT take anyone in to custody (or at least should not unless the LEO is just being a complete A-Hole) If the two jurisdictions are close together like just across a state line from one another, then maybe.
As others have said, reciprocal agreements between various states however can and will bite you come time for tags, driver's license etc.
Most states seem to have them at least with the adjoining contiguous states, but generally speaking, the further away a state is, the less likely there is an agreement.
