All verts=power antenna.....hard to wire into folding convertible roof
FRC's=fixed antenna...weight savings
Coupes=antenna "hidden" in glass....plenty of glass to hide it in

Then correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the FRC's benefit from an antenna in the glass?
And the verts why not in the glass?
So why not all in the glass?....GM, You make me crazy!

The very first thing I did when I got my Z06 was purchase and have installed the power antenna offered by Mid America Motorworks. If saving the weight was the rational for not going with the power antenna... pretty dumb if you ask me.
The coupes have two antennas. The AM antenna is in the hatch glass and the FM antenna runs in the windshield. Although they work well enough, neither is probably as good for reception as a conventional mast antenna. One other drawback to the antenna arrangement in the coupe is that if you tint the rear hatch window with certain types of tint (ie metallic based), you will compromise your AM reception.

It may sound dumb....but, I suppose weight savings in small chunks start to add up...eg. titanium exhaust, carbon fiber hoods on Z16 Z06, no rear compartment covers on Z06, etc.

99 Coupe here and they are in hatch glass and windshield. Never had any reception problems even here in the Rocky Mountains.

Im not sure about the rear window but the windshield on the Z06 is thinner than the coupe and vert, so you might not be able to put an atenna in the windshield on a Z06. Why they didnt do it on the vert. is
