I use the Chevron Techron every now and then. It's worked for me so far. No more problems with my fuel needle dropping to "E". Next time you fill up, pour it in your tank...I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I dont know about the bottled Techron but I alwasy fill up at a Chevron station which has the Techron in it. They are usually cheaper than the Shell stations here.
Ditto... I've never had to add any extra additive when using Chevron 93 octane due to having Techron already added in their fuel.
I have had problems in two C5's with the fuel needle going to E. At the time I always used major brands of gasoline but did not necessarily stay with one brand. I switched to Shell premium at the suggestion of a friend, and I have had zero problems since switching.
I've got the dreaded gas to empty problem on my car. Bottled Techron in the tank never seemed to help much the first year that I owned the car. Every time I filled up and drove about 25 miles on the freeway -"Ding" gas gauge down on E.
Then, this off season (winter) I put in a double dose of techron while the 'vette was in storage from November to April and just let it soak on the sending units. Then I have been filling up with only Chevron since Spring.......knock on wood, so far this is the first season that I've really HAD a gas gauge that works....no problems so far......
I use Chevron gas 98% of the time (unless I'm out of town and can't find it). I also run one bottle of the concentrate per year, or about 15K miles.
I wouldn't be comfortable using it every fill up. There are some serious detergents in the concentrate and you have the potential to do more harm than good with overuse, IMO.
My car hasn't had gage issues, it's an '04, But I tell you this, I ran a tank through with it on a trip to NC, DAMNED if the car no longer rocks at idle, it's much, much better! Will run it through again!

Don't know that you need it every tankful, but doubt that it will hurt anything. I add it to mine every so often and have had no problems with the gas gauge.
Not to thread jack, but what is the 'Dreaded fuel gage problem'? Occasionally, my needle drops to E when I am at about 1/8 of a tank, but after some driving, it returns to one notch above - I'm thinking this is normal?
Also, I put a 20oz. bottle of Techron a few tanks ago and my car idles smoother and I am getting a couple MPG higher according to the comp. To verify this though, I would need to wait a few more tankfuls I think.
Anyway, any insight as to what the gage problem is would be great.
Mine was dropping to "E" only after I filled up. Once I made it to about 3/4 of a tank it stopped doing that. I think that every car that has the problem probably acts a little different............
wow, i've NEVER heard of this gauge problem! Good thing mine works, i usually goto QuickTrip. They're everywhere around me and seem to be the cheapest. Looks good to see it on the top of the list warm fuzzy feeling
I have seen topics in the past about using Techron and they have inspired me to go out a purchase some. So, I have a 20 oz bottle of Chevron "Techron Concentrate Plus". The instructions indicate you dump it into a near empty tank before refueling. I was wondering though and I guess wanting to confirm with those of you out there who have used this... do I really empty the entire 20 oz bottle into the fuel tank as opposed to half? I just want to be sure I am applying this correctly. Thanks.
They say the 12 oz. us good for 12 gallons, the 20 oz is good for 20 gallons. I left a little less than 20% in the bottle. I think it's crazy to measure with a measuring cup...just pour most of it in but leave a little sloshing around in the bottom. Maybe add it to a tank in the future if you aren't sure it's quality gas. That's my .02
I have a 2004 purchased new and use the Top Tier gasolines at least 95% of the time. I have never had any problem with the fuel gauges so it looks as if using Top Tier gas is the secret.
I had the fuel gauge issue shortly after purchasing my '01 in March. Two bottles of Sea Foam and only Chevron fuel has solved my problems so far. I heard that Shell had high sulfer content in their fuel and it was causing gauge issues in enough cars that a lawsuit was filed a few years ago against them. Not sure if they've changed their mix since then. I stick with Chevron when possible.
