You can bet that the local city will have the state do another survey pronto. The area involved is called a "Cherry Patch" and the manner in which the LEO enforces it is not one where you could state visibility creates voluntary compliance-since they hide.
Awhile back I was on the Imperial Highway just south of LAX doing 75 in a 55 when a black and white pulled up next to me got on his PA and told me that I had a nice car but to slow it down. He was obviously a Vett owner lol
Saved the punch line for the last sentence - "California". Where I live you are guilty until you give up trying to prove you are innocent - then you are guilty anyway.
Sweet defense. Best I could have done would have been a letter stating "PLEEEEEEEEEEASE DONT GIVE ME A TICKET" and including a vile of salty tears. I like your method a lot better though.

Very nice work! It just goes to show you that fighting the case is sometimes the right thing to do rather than just pay the fine and get some points .
Sounds like the city has not been keeping up with their traffic surveys, and you got lucky Just FYI, this doesn't work everywhere and not on every road.
This defense will also not work on 4 lane divided highways as speed violatons are cited under a different code (ie. the freeway). This is California (CVC) though, but many states are similar.

Dude, that rocks!
I got a ticket under similar circumstances on a rural road near my home a few years ago (45/30). Straight, smooth, wide two lane road with no houses. (farmland). Posted 30mph...everyone drives 45-50.
Glad you beat it.
