The Corvette Forum is a great place. There's no one here has every answer and I learn something new every day.

Some problems come up repeatedly and are easy to fix. Some come up rarely and make people think. Some are a first.

I've done a few mods so I can post those things from a position of experience. I've saved a few How Tos from the Forum Gurus which I'm happy to share. I've also recycled some advice of maybe dubious heritage but it may help someone troubleshoot a problem.

A question for those who have been around a while. E-T, who I had great admiration for and, despite his grumpy outbursts, quit in frustration. Do you ever feel the same or are you happy to contribute?

Colors to the Mast; I never tire of this place and |'m always happy to help - despite some statements of the blee**$%ing obvious!

Any thoughts?

I also love reading and enjoying the forum, I am new to the C5 but I try to contribute information that I know that is valid and useful, never want to give out crappy incorrect information.

I just wish I had half the knowledge that some members have.

The forum is a great souce for info.

I have no problems with E T, he was an engineer with GM and he got frustrate with people telling him he was wrong about something especailly when the question was related to the component he worked on.

I sometimes get frustrate with the same old questions that come up once a month such as what octane do you use, BSM polls, and misplaced post. I usually go venture off to OT for a while or just take a break and not post.

Before I moved to the new house I used to create wooden corvette emblems and give them away on the forum. The wooden corvette emblem have been put on the back burner right now since I am working a lot and just finshed doing the full basement adding two bedrooms, bathroom, media area, exercise area and computer nook.

Once things settle down i will probably give a few more away.
Here what I give back to the forum.

Personally I think The Corvette Form is the absolute best!

I'd like to thank the administrators and the moderators for their work and also my hats off to all the forum members that contribute here for the betterment of all its readers.

I enjoyed Evil-Twin, aka Bill, posts and threads. Bill spent the better part of 5 years or more designing and engineering the C5 platform so who better to have as a professor. Did he get frustrated with some of the posts; yes, I would have. Have I ever been irritated by some of the posts here, yes.

Disagreeing is a part of life, opinions are like a$$holes, everyone's got one. If I state my opinion, it's based on my personal experiences and results. I never just shoot from the hip and give opinions based on a guess without qualifying my statement, it's just wrong to that and could cost someone a boatload of cash if I'm wrong.

I don't have all the answers, unlike some of you.. Not only don't I have all the answers, I don't even know half of the questions. I value everyone's comments and opinion but it must be me to determine if it's right for me.

I really enjoy this place as well. I took close to a year off from the boards to pursue my wine hobby (and get some work done). But, this place has been a nice hub to learn and just gawk at what others are doing with their cars. A lot of knowledge is here.

This is a great place, I've learned more here in the past 7 months than I have learned in the past 2 years at college, (probably a lie but you get the point)

I also enjoy this forum and have received some VERY helpful information from some of the members. With any open forum, you always need to listen to the advice with a filter on. Not just here, but everywhere we go in life thery're are always azzhats spouting off about what they "think" they know. You just have to know when to call Whether or not we choose to externalize it, is up to the individual.

99% of my experience here has been a positive one.

I have learned so much -- what to embrace and what to avoid. If only the Forum had been around in the mid 1990s when I was modding my C4 unwisely....

This is a great forum! I probably spend as much time here as I do driving my Vette. I really enjoy both. Like DeeGee I've learned a lot about my Vette from all the great folks on the forum. I had 2 known problems when I purchased my Vette last year. I had a bad EBCM and failed head light gears. I fixed both problems with the knowledge I gained from forum member who posted the how to fix it with very easy to follow instructions.

I have bookmarked a lot of how to sights. I did this so when someone comes looking for help I can pass on a little of what has been given to me from the folks on the forum. After all I think that knowledge is a great thing to have; Wisdom is sharing it.

I give the forum and it's members 3

I can't imagine owning this car without access to the forum.

I will say this, 15 posts about how great the forum is and only 5 supporting/contributing members???? I've started posts before about how it only seems right that once you admit you've saved thousands of dollars on preventative measures or by NOT making the mistakes of previous memebers, how can you NOT become a contributing member. Geez, its so little. C'mon folks, get that guilty feeling and go become a lifetime member!!!!!

I try to help ware I can gave away a few parts. Iv helped in posts w/ pics and some real advise like outhers.
The list goes on like most of you outher members.

When I sold my C4 back in NOV. I was working a deal on a 02 vert stang GT. Clean about $9,500 W/tax, a real deal.

What stoped the deal was this fourm. All the grate things about it I did not think I could finde elseware.

So insted I got a 97 C5. I think I will be around for a long time w/ a vette.

This fourm is one of the best.

I always almost help by passing along how-tos and tips from projects I've done, although I don't get into the BSM/No BSM type of posts much anymore. I WILL offer up opinions on things like if I'm happy with the kind of tires I run or if I like the new shocks I put on. I miss ET, but I'm so glad there are guys like Bill Curlee and countless others that offer great advice and knowledge. And I think that we ALL support the forum by supporting the supporting Vendors -- beleive me, I'd have a LOT more money in my pockets if I didn't spend so much time here.

Overall - I love this place. I have made many friends (and a few enemies) here. Frankly - I have had my moments when I've had it to here (Hold hand just above your head for full effect) with some of the obnoxious immature ungrateful behavior. I've had a couple of moments in the last year that it pushed me to the point of saying "I quit".

But for every moment that raises my blood pressure and pi$$es me off, there have been many more that have made me think what a great place this is - frequented by some really outstanding people.

I considered E-T a friend (and still do) and I totally understood his frustration, though I didn't always agree with his presentation.

Not that I know it all - far from it - but really I rarely ask questions, as I choose to research my own solutions. Many of those solutions are previous posts. I use the search function and I also read a lot. I am not not much concerned with the opinions of others, I do what I want, but I'm just like everyone else - when I added something to the car, I want to hear the words of encouragement and compliment from time to time. It's called EGO - plain and simple.

I think I can say without any ego or bragging - that I contribute more than I take in return. What I get in return is the feeling of being a part of a great fraternity.

And while we are patting ourselves on the back - let's not forget that the moderators and administrators are the ones that keep everything running and make this one of the best, if not THE BEST Forums on the Internet. Without their tireless contributions imagine what this place would be.

I enjoy hanging out here with my "imaginary friends" as my wife calls you.

I ocasionally get irritated with some narrow minded people who put down other peoples cars. Other than that, I am happy to help when I can and I am very grateful for all the knowledge and help I have received.
