Someone needs to fix their A/C then. And you can sweat like a pig in a Convertible too. Just try driving in 100 degree or hotter weather.
My A/C works so good I use it when its 90+ degrees WITH THE TOP DOWN...so I stay cool AND get an out in the open air feeling...but don't sweat like a pig
....but to transform a Z06 into a Vert...it wouldnt be practical.
with all due respect, and as an owner of such an animal (check the sig), i would have to disagree. i have owned quite a few custom vehicles, but my "verted" z0 is by far the most enjoyable vehicle i have driven. i have to admit that i get a kick when i read the threads where z0 drivers disagree with the vert/coupe folks and, of course, vice-versa. i am fortunate enough to have what i consider to be the best (and worst) of both worlds (if there even is a "worst"...lol).

Best of Both worlds. Pop some LT headers and heads/cam and Im making more horsepower than a stock Z06 and I can put the top down and cruise. If you're planning on tracking your car though, probably get the Z since high speed track events and some drag events have rules requiring convertibles to have roll cages. Something to think about.

All depends on what you're looking for. I could care less about comfort and cruising, I wanted pure performance. Hence the Z. Just to show how much I care about comfort, my car is slammed on stock bolts and it rides like a one horse wagon. But damn, when I start slinging it around corners, it's awesome. No 'vert could ever hang. Plus it looks a ton better
I know a few verts that could hang!!!! All it takes is a little work under the hood!!!!
From: the GOCC are everywhere, even back from "band camp"
I've got a vert, put on Z06 exhaust & sway bars, Koni shocks, AR headers, etc. It runs great, looks fantastic. There are drawbacks to a vert, no track days unless you get a roll bar. In a perfect world I would own one of each. I don't live anywhere near perfect, my convertible is a great choice.

I'd opt for more of a fun Vette.
If I wanted speed, I'd go for C6 Z06, (or ZR1).
heck I've already gotten a speeding ticket in my little LS1 345 hp Coupe!
(besides, more of an excuse to visit Arizona more often
Being the fact that I have a 2000 FRC and a 2001 Z06, one can make the obvious observation that I love ( well attracted to) the hardttop body. Weather its has good power or great power is a bonus to me.
Is this a trick question? One of the only reasons that I bought a Vette is it's combination of style, comfort, and performance. A Z06 is all about that combination. Convertibles suck. I've recently come off a 3 year run of only driving convertibles and I can honestly say that I can remember every time I have had the top down in those 3 years. If you want a convertible buy a Miata as a second car.

go for the vert
We have stock C4 Coupe and C5 Vert. We decided to look for the Vert since we already had a coupe (and a 2k TransAm coupe too), and are extremely happy with our decision.
Whereas they both drive very well and comfortable (adjustable stock shocks on both), there is nothing like putting the top down on the C5. The only complaint is a bit of body twist, but hopefully an alignment and making sure the stiffening panel bolts above the drive shaft are tight will help.
The look and feel of open air all around, and the airodynamics are amazing, so it's extremely quiet, and the looks from everyone are extremely gratifing.
Since you already have a 2007 C6 coupe (per your profile), go for the Vert, you will not be dissapointed.
Also the 2002 is a great year, engine slapping was addressed and the top was improved.
