My .0199 is to go w a red/black C5 Z51 Vert. In my opinion the C5 will go down in history as the first really great Vert: w no shakes and no rattles. They are truly special cars.
Easy answer
Both look great (After all, they are Vettes)
Going to the track, run the canyons.........Z all the way
Cruise up Coast Hwy, sunny day, lottsa bikini's........Nothing like the Vert.
So you just have to decide what you want the car for............
I voted vert. My first Vette was a vert so I am a little biased. Considering how I personally use my Vette, I would not be happy with a Z06, not having the option to go without a roof or top on a nice day.
Being the fact that I have a 2000 FRC and a 2001 Z06, one can make the obvious observation that I love ( well attracted to) the hardttop body. Weather its has good power or great power is a bonus to me.
I disagree. Even with my coupe, I've taken the Targa off 3x since March of 06'. The last time I got ROASTED in the hottest day of the year here in San Diego. My dad's a vert guy(has an 86 and 96' C4 verts), and I can't stand them. Glad the option is there for people like you and my father, but for me, not in a billion years.
+1 for the Z
You said it! I've owned vert, targa, T-top, and sun roof cars. Give me a hard top with no sun in my eyes, no rattles, no leaks, no care, and less noise. Oh yeah, there are a few other reasons to take the Z06 too. But what should YOU buy? It's all about what you want. We don't know what you want, so we are in no position to tell you what you should buy.
I had the same problem deciding on what i wanted. Years ago i had a 61 Vert fully modified. But i really didn't like the fact that the new vert didn't have the hp of the Z06. The wife she kept looking at the 2004 MSG Vert and i kept drooling over this black 2004 Z06. The salesman finally said "you know you can always mod the vert to have more hp." So i bought the vert and that's exactly what i did. Looking back i made a excellent choice i think
Everyone's different, that's why there's Vanilla and Chocolate. With that said I myself have always thought you should have to shift a Vette yourself and the top should go down. But that's just me.
My vert is plenty fast, and it's easy to make it faster if I want.
WHAT? you have already made the best choice= buying a Genuwine fifth generation of Zora Arkas-Duntov's and Harley Earl's Corvette. Now you are just deciding on the little things. FYI:I love my convertible, but that is for me. Just get 'er dun! Buy them both and be twice as happy!
As others have said...it all depends on what you like and what you want out of the car. Having never had a manual in a Corvette and owning seven over the years, my preference would be a Z06. I have had a vert and loved it, although they are a little more noisy, but with the top down on a sunny day, nothing like it. I respect others opinions, so to each his own.
...I don't think there is that much difference in speed or quickness between the two but it would be difficult to take the top off of a Z06 ...you can always add some HP and be at the level of a Z06...theres nothing like the top down in good weather
Ahh my friend, that's where you're wrong. The z isn't just about quickness.
True you can't take the top down, but the z06 is defined in other ways.
It's a thing of beauty on a road course track. The z has very little roll since the suspension is totally different in comparison to a vert.
I used to think that there couldn't be that much difference between a z06 and a c5 coupe in the handling department........UNTIL I DROVE ONE.
There is virtually 0 give and/or body roll on a z06. Its handling is impeccable, tight as a fiddle string.
My coupe is probably as quick or quicker than an 2002 z06 in a straight line, due to modifications, but handling is not even close.
The c5 is a great handling car, either vert or coupe......but neither come close to a z in their stock forms.
