Default Ideas about Shift ****?

I bought a shift **** that seems to be a little bigger than my shifter, it won't screw down tight on the shifter. It slides over the threads.

Anyone have some ideas how I can make it work?

Thanks,

Jason

...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I think you'll need to be more specific about the **** (manufacturer) and the shifter (oem or after market)...images might give some clue if you don't have that information. Your profile says you have a B&M Ripper.
The oem C5/Z06 shifter and many after market shifters for that matter (including B&M), use a very large fine thread size of 9/16-18. I can't imagine a **** that is larger ID than that unless it's a cheapie generic **** that requires plastic inserts for various thread sizes.
Did you by any chance buy a C6/Z06 shifter **** which mounts with one bolt to the lever and has no internal threads?

I made a late model F-body shift **** (larger diameter than the C5) fit onto my MTI 6-shooter shifter with the aid of a threaded insert. You need to get the thread diameter and pitch of the shifter and ****, then find somebody that can mock up a sleeve for ya...

Sorry, yes B&M ripper. I bought a Hurst shift ****. I think it was for a Camaro.

The Camaro shifter threads are 16 x 1.5 mm, which is .63 inch.

The C5 shifter threads are 9/16-18 inch, which is .56 inch, so yes, your shift **** has a larger inside diameter.

Here's an adapter I designed and used to adapt the f-body shift **** to my Hurst. It presses in to the **** and screws onto the shaft of the Hurst, Ripper or stocker.

The f-body threads in my **** are only in the top portion of the **** so this insert is pressed into the remaining bore perfectly. Not sure if it'll work on your's but you can judge by looking at the bore of your **** and measuring it's diameter.

Here's a pic of my Hurst ****.
