I owned a C4 and the wife, well let's say she tolerated it!
I loved it and could never understand why she thought it looked to dated, that thing was mint:
My least favorite probably an '82 SMOGGED DOWN!
Thanks,matt
My wife also says they look dated. I remind her of how much she loves her dads 1969, and how people may have felt in 1985 about that car. Then she says they are "too boxy". Then I remind her of how much she loves her dad's Range Rover. She says, "that's different". I understand where she is coming from on the boxy comments and how it's different for the Range Rover to be boxy. It is different, but I still love the old Vettes. Nice C4 by the way, and C5 of course.
I like all generations of Corvettes and hope to get a chance to own one from each generation in my life.
I bought a '96 CE convertible last summer and drove it as my DD for 13 months. My wife liked driving the car, but is not a fan of the C4 styling. We recently sold the C4 and plan to replace it with a C6 convertible. She likes the C6 styling and will like the creature comforts that a C6 offers over a C4.
My C5 was my first Corvette and I plan on always keeping it. My wife loved the car when it was stock. She still likes the car and will drive it, but doesn't like the lope of the cam in the recently installed 402.

I'm with ya on that one Steven And Wayne's 84 C4 was special to me cause that was the year I graduated high school I just didn't like the way it handled compared to the C5 or we would still have it But now I don't think you could pry him away from his vert So now he has converted me yet again---banking on my next one being an 04 vert---by then I should be able to afford it
Nice couple with a pretty home. You are doing well with the vette
you have. Your young if this is your hobby more vettes will be in
your future. Enjoy.
I love the 68-73's but the 74-82's just look like crap to me. They must to most everyone considering what they bring. If you want to get into Corvettes cheap, they're the way to go.
I like all Corvettes but prefer some generations over others. We owned a C3 and sold it. Currently have a C4 and a C5. The C3 and C4 can't touch the C5 for comfort, power and looks IMHO.
I totally understand your situation. My wife hated the C4, I loved it and finally we bought a black C5. Long story short she had a reason, I owned an 87 Trans AM before that, which she did not enjoy driving (lack of creature comforts) and said the C4 reminded her of the TA. I still hold onto my desire though, and if I have extra cash in hand in the future, I will go for a low miles ZR-1, maybe the resale value angle will convince her

I would love to get my hands on a ZR1! Ultimately though, I'm glad I ended up with a C5. When I was looking, I was looking at C5s and C4s in my price range, and I was seeing high mileage C5s with 4As and pristine C4 Lt4 6-Speed cars with low miles. At the time, the C4 made all the sense in the world to me because I wanted the cleanest 6-speed Vette I could get. But, I didn't want a car that embarrassed my wife. So I knew I would have to wait until that 6M C5 came available with a price I could live with, and it finally happened.

I had a 73 that I sold 25+ years ago. I bought a C4 in 03, another in 04 and a C5 in 06. I currently have a C4 and C5 vert. No prejudice against any here... I loved them all but...to me each generation just got better.
If you like your cars without cracks, anything prior to a C4 WILL get them at some point in their life-you repair them, repaint and one "blossoms" somewhere else. I've had several now and I think I'd be hard presses to get another C3 (or older). The new ones are faster, more reliable, more comfortable and get TRIPLE the gas mileage.
I understand that the older Vettes are inferior in terms of comfort, build quality, performance, oh and of course gas mileage. The C5 is a more advanced car, and I would sure hope so with approx. 40 years of technology going for it in comparison to the C1s. I wouldn't buy a C1 for economic, comfort, performance, or reliability reasons. I don't think anyone buys a 50 year old car for those reasons. I would buy one (If I could) because it is a beautiful piece of history, and a piece of the history I appreciate - automotive history, more importantly Corvette history. I wouldn't mind putting time and money into the cracks of the fiberglass of an old Corvette.
I struggle with the idea that because we love our C5s and they are such incredible cars, some of us competitively compare to and degrade other generations of the car. It should be no surprise that the C5 is a better car than any previous Corvette, and to me, it's not even worth mentioning.
As far as I'm concerned, to all Corvettes and their owners.
I like the later C4s, mainly the Grand Sport and the ZR1, however, I think they are all great cars...maybe a little bland on styling compared to newer models..but still one of the better lookin cars of the 80s-early 90s.
One of these days I would like to pick up a C3 for a project. The good thing about the C3 is that they are still pretty cheap to obtain. I've heard wildly differing opinions on the styling, however, I think they look great. I love the curves. I'd like one with the 427.

I would love to get a project C3 too. I always thought it would be cool to find one with no engine and put an LS1 in it.
I like the idea of one from each generation, luckily my wife thinks like I do about Vette’s she drives the Yellow C4 as a DD and likes it better than the C5 so I drive it as a DD and save the others for weekend drives.. But I must admit if I could only have one it would be the ZR-1.
its just my opinion, but the only generation that I like is the 5. 6 is my second favorite, I think I could own one of those. but I wouldn't' be interested in owning any other corvette. they just don't do it for me.
With the exception of the CE's, GS's, and ZR-1's, the C4 is my least fav. generation. Although I would still take one if someone was going to give it to me.

For gosh sakes don't go over to the C4 forum and say that! All we will hear is the gnashing of teeth...an increasing roar until we see a bright flash followed by a mushroom cloud over there.
