Generation prejudice
Long story short, we bought a house, and a year of me looking at every used car sales website on the web later, my black M6 C5 showed up on the market under my $22K limit with only 9,7XX miles and we bought it.
The point of this whole thing is that I have always been disgusted with the fact that my wife gags
at the thought of us owning a C4. I'll admit, the C4 is probably my least favorite style corvette to look at, but I still love the looks of them, and come on, it's a Vette. I was born in 1983 and she in 1985, so we grew up with the C4, how could she hate that style of Vette? Her dad has a black '69 convertible that she grew up around, so she loves Vettes, but not the C4. Sorry, I probably sound like I'm blowing steam :o , and I don't mean for that to be the reason for this post. Now that we own a Vette, and have visited the museum and talked with numerous fellow owners, she is coming around and at least appreciating C4s for the fact that they are a huge part of the history of our car, but I don't see how anyone could feel that way about those cars. Does anyone have any input on this?
By the way, here are some pictures to make my whole long-winded story hit home. I know a post is only half a post without pics. Thanks.

On our way to the museum and assembly plant.

She wants a C1 next.
She just doesn't know what they cost.
Living without fuel injection is also an experience if she never has.

I loved it and could never understand why she thought it looked to dated, that thing was mint:

My least favorite probably an '82 SMOGGED DOWN!
Thanks,matt

I had a pretty nice 96 C4 but traded for my C5 as I wanted the improved handling, the additional power and the additional interior room.

The pics show that you have a lovely wife, a beautiful home and really nice C5. Enjoy yourselves -- your youth and good fortune!

We went from this stable:

To this stable (the C3 being rebuilt first)

And yes that is the same C5 I just had her redone over the winter to what I wanted her to be

As for the older Vette, it will be an extremely long time before I would be able to purchase something like that. I see an early 70's Vette being the next one. Or maybe a C6 Z06, by the time I get my next one, they should come down some in price. I plan to keep every Corvette I get though. Eventually, I hope to have a collection. Who knows though, I'm just glad to have the one I have for now. I drive it every day, and will until the snow flies and the salt and sand is put on the streets.
It was a fast car in its day, and still would be considered a relatively fast car. I don't know about reliability and all of that, but I was sure proud of it. I had a friend in school that had a ragged '84 with 150K miles and he could make my '91 Formula with a 350 TPI look stupid in every category except mileage, paint condition, and carrying a second friend with you. I didn't like to admit it then, but that car was fast and when he and I would go anywhere, we took his Vette per my request.
