CR's battery tests are both extensive and well thought-out, so chances are if they predict the Sears AGM will last, it probably will. I can't remember seeing a comparison where the AC Delco doesn't do well, so I have no doubt that the AC Delco Professional batteries are up ear the top. Hopefully, I'll have my issue, tomorrow.
The Platinum is made by Johnson Controls, same as Auto Zone batteries.
The Platinum is the heaviest battery out there for the C5 so it just has more metal inside ... it's just a good battery made for newer cars that use a lot of juice, like the C5's.
About the same price as a yellow top ... $180.00 or so.
Heck, they'll even put it in for you for free ... I like Sears.
I'm sure its not the best - but the Walmart Everlast battery has a 9 year warranty with the first 3 years a swap. Used them for years, no hassle, no testing BS- just a new battery when I want one. Just put a new one in this year when the AC delco crapped out.
I understand the battery leakage issue if the electrical system malfunctions but you should look under the hood occasionally.

OPTIMA is a wholly owned subsidiary of JOHNSON CONTROLS.
I work with a guy who worked at Johnson Controls for a long time testing their batteries and competitors' batteries. He said AC Delco always blew away everything else and were the best made batteries out there.
My OEM AC Delco AGM is now 6.5 years old and still starts my C5 like the day it was new. Small, light and $90 for a replacement (when the time comes) - not bad at all
I've had AC batteries last me almost 6 years... Thats pretty damn good. Somebody did once tell me that all the batteries are made at Johnson Controls. And they just put different covers on them. I don't know how true that is. As a matter of fact there about 7 miles north of me here in Tampa.
Wait till the positive terminal leaks acid all over your BCM and vacuum lines

To the best of my knowledge, Delco batteries are made by Delco, not outsourced.
