I had the same problem. I tried various glues and different strength velcro. Nothing worked.

I eventually drilled 4 small holes and used push pins. its been fixed solid for about 3 years now.

Take a look at my post in the DIY thread in C5 Tech post #14

The hood insulator retainers as suggested are probably the best idea.
You can buy wider industrial strength VELCRO from HOME DEPOT and other sources. I use it to mount my BATTERY TENDER to one column of my lift. It's solid as a rock in AZ summer heat in my shop/garage. It's very difficult to remove w/o a heat gun and lots of patience. It comes in a roll of 4 ft long and 2" wide as I recall.

3M makes some very heavy velcro type strips. I have a prototype liner that someone made me and it is heavier than any I have seen or tried; it has not come off once in the three years I have had it...

I believe this stuff was white hook and loop not like the heavy-duty stuff you see at Home Depot or Lowes...

Do an online search and see what comes up

I even tried 1" industrial strength velcro. i think my problem was I used peg board to build the liner so it was heavy. Got fed up coming back and finding the liner on the floor of the trunk

I gave in and drilled the holes. No more problems.

Take off those velcro pieces with the sponge on the left and right sides.Get some 3M industrial double sided tape,it has a red liner.Get some strips of wood about 8 inches long three quarters inchs thick by about one inch wide Put the tape on both sides of the wood,Now stick the wood to the liner and then to the trunk lid. A couple of drops of Gorilla glue on each strip works.

I used the above Velcro and it has stayed in place for most of this year.

Try 3M doublesided trim tape to hold the velcro on.

Depending on what you've used to clean your trunk hood inner surface you may have some residual preventing good adhesion. At first my velcro wouldn't stick worth a darn. I cleaned the surface where the strips goes with rubbing alcohol and they stuck without any problem of holding the liner in place.
