Default AntiVenom mod done

I searched all over to try to find pictures to do the AntiVenom Mod. I knew I had found them once before, but I couldn't find them anymore, so I took some myself.

These are the washers I found at Advance Auto. they are 13/16" ID which is about perfect for the detent. they are pretty thin so I got 2 packages, 4 total. this gives lots of adjustment.

You can berely see the Detent bold up there. you just have to feel your way up for the 13/16" nut. I was able to get my camera into one position where i could see it. the light is positioned to light up the nut.

this is what the detent looks like.

washers on, I went with 2 to start with, just have to drop it back into position.

as for the results however, I'm not sure. for comparison I tried the shifter with the detent off completely. It was definitely easy to shift, but I still felt a bit of notchiness. I guess not as much as before, but I thought the detent removed completely would have resulted in perfectly smooth shifting. Apparently that's not the case. With the Detent replaced and shimmed with the first two washers the shifter still feels pretty notchy. I'm not sure if it reduced the notchy feeling much at all. one big difference I did notice is that the shifter moves back out of gear much easier. That's not exactly the result I was looking for though! before the shifter would stay in position pretty well. now with it shimmed I can pull it out of gear easily without the clutch even being in. I'm going to give it some time and see how I like it. but this wasn't the result I was expecting.

I also did this mod a couple day's ago. I did not feel much of a change. I used two crush <~1/8" washers, which I guessitmate they crushed down to 1/8". Maybe I have to add another washer to appreciate the affects.

Just curious I see your trans has what looks like gear oil seepage? Mine also has this! Not as much as yours but it is a hair 'damp' right in the same spot as yours. Is this normal???

I noticed that too. there's no fluid leaking. its dry to the touch, it just looks stained. either it leaked once before and had the gasket replaced (common problem from what I understand) or its leaking very very slowly, just enough to discolor the area. that whole area is so dusty the upper trans and front half of the rear diff look like they have fur!

I also noticed something else while I was under there. my car came with a CAGS bypass which was a pleasant surprise. the PO installed it and it looks like he/she wedged it in between the two rear brake lines! it doesn't seem to be hurting anything, and its in there really tight. but it isn't wire tied like the kit instructions say.

To add some input. I did this mod this past Sat. The Detent was a 15/16" socket. I'd say the washer I used was 1/8". Neutral is still pretty stiff. Going into gear is slightly better. Pulling out of gear is 10X better. Before, it took quite a bit of effort to pull out of each gear. Overall, I'm happy. I'll have to give it more time and see what I think. Might got back and add anther washer and see how it feels.

Finished mine about an hour ago. got back from test drive and am extremely happy! Thickness needs to be a mimimum of 1/8". I used two for a total of 3/16". I have a B&M Ripper. Hated the effort before, love it now.

I used one solid copper washer from ACE HAREWARE (in the bulk fastener section). It didn't crush down like oil drain plug washers. The OD needed to be opened up slightly from 3/4"...so it's a snug fit.
I machined it down to 3/32" until it felt just right.

^The detente bolt links up the shifter rod with the transmission. It is spring loaded. The problem is that it has too much spring pressure which means it takes more effort to shift gears.

The washers result in the spring having less effective pressure which in turn makes the shifting easier.

The bolt is located in the middle of the tranny toward the top on the passenger-side of the car.

Will any fluid leak out when removing this bolt?
