If your Z06 was lowered 2 1/2'', would you just pay GM $19 to change your oil for you? I don't have a 4post lift yet and have been studying how to change a 'vettes oil, as well as how the hell i'm going to lift it up, and am thinking $19 may save me several hours of cursing trying to get it up on wooden ramps
I don't want to spoil the party, but you may want to check the fine print on whatever mailer you received from you local dealer on $20 oil changes. They typically exclude synthetics (like the Mobil One that was originally specified for your car).
But if by chance they did perform a synthetic oil AND FILTER change for you for $20 (inlcluding the oil disposal fee), then please post their name here so that others can make a speed run to them before they change their mind!
That was the price for an '89 Geo Prism oil change, no filter included...

We were living in a rental house for a year and I didn't have access to a lift or floor jack/stands for oil/PM service on our cars.
The local GM dealership charged me only $11.00 labor and I took the oil/filter of my choice into them. I drank their fresh coffee, ate their fresh donut and read their latest car magazines while watching their tech in the pit do the work.
You might inquire with your local GM dealership...

Sorry - I meant I supply my own oil and filter, they do the labor for $19
I thought everybody would understand that $19 was labor only
Your car might too low for even the shop to get it on the lift.
Or drive over the pit.
I have three inches of ground clearence and I can not drive over a oil change pit.
Made 2"x12"x24" boards to drive the front two wheels onto, then get the low profile jack underneath to lift onto four jack stands. Chang my own oil and inspect the underside of the car.

I'm pretty sure it can over a pit - when my b&b bullet hanger bracket broke, I spent 3weeks trying to find an exhaust shop that would fix it. Nobody could get the car up on their lifts, had the patience to build a ramp to get it up, so one shop just ended up driving over an oil change pit and welded it from there
buying synthetic oil by the quart is expensive. The first time I got my oil changed was when I was driving the car home from purchasing it 600 miles away. The change oil soon message appeared so I pulled into a Firestone and had it done for $35. They put in Kendall synthetic. I've changed the oil myself since then though.

edit: $19 for labor, i supply my own oil/filter
I would watch the car drive on/off whatever AND watch it every min. it's in a bay. At my dealer I have seen lowered Vettes trashed by lot boys trying to get them on/off lifts. In front of my eyes. It's like they could not figure out what all the banging/crashing noise was. I really would not let anyone else change MY oil. I like it done right & collateral damage minimized.
I let the boys at the Oil Changer's do it. I bring my own Motul 300V, they supply the filter. I get down on the floor hand 'em the torque wrench and listen to it click. It costs me $29.95 (plus the oil I purchased, of course)
First of all, I did realize that you meant only the labor was $19. Now, since your car is lowered quite a bit, to me that would be even more of a reason to learn how to do it yourself. Being lowered gives them even more of a chance to damage your car. They can do enough damage with just a stock height Vette. Remember, oil changes are usually done by the mechanics that are lowest on the totem pole. Don't let them learn on your car. I made little wooden ramps to get the front high enough to get my jack under the front. My car is lowered and once I get the front up a little, the jack will still fit under the rear. It doesn't take much effort to do more than $19 worth of damage.

I just don't get it... if you are going to that much trouble, why not just do it yourself??? I have a lowered Z and I live in an apartment complex. (No garage, no lift) It takes me a whopping 15 minutes to change the oil with some boards and a floor jack. It's not that hard folks...
Just for perspective... You take the time to go shopping for the oil and filter, then go to the place for some 18 year old who probably doesn't know anything about your car works on it. It takes the same amount of time as if you did it yourself, (longer if you have to wait of course) costs you more money, and the only effort you save is loosening and replacing the plug and filter. Just doesn't make sense to me.

No way id let a minimum wage oil change jockey touch my Z06 to change the oil, but im biased as I have a lift at home. Even if I didn't id still change it myself if even it cost me $35 to do it..

I changed mine yesterday in the driveway. I let it set on the ramps for about 2 hours and drain while I knocked around in the garage. Even after that amount of time the oil was still dripping at a pretty good rate. I can only imagine how much old oil is left in the engine at a quicky oil change place when the change is done in 20 minutes or less.
