Went to pull the cover off my car today to back it our so we could put our Christmas stuff up. Once I started looking at it, there were tiny black specs all over the hood and trunk. Then I saw some "wet" spots, I guess it was mouse ****!!! So I back the car out, and there is a pile of dogfood under where the rear sits!! I did not find anything in the engine bay or, thank God, inside the car, but it looks like they have been camping out under the car cover. Kinda funny b/c it's a satin stretch and fits the car pretty snug.
I put out some nice green "candy" for them to munch on next time they need a snack!!
They have been in my 67 Camaro too...rat bastards!!!!
It was not fun washing my Z in 40 degree weather today either!!
Try mousetraps around the wheels as well. I've had mice take that 'green' candy and stockpile in other areas. The varmits never ingested it, just hoarded it to another area. Plus it's easier to find them if the trap gets them rather than trying to track the smell later. If you don't already, keep all food products out of the garage. Good luck and hopefully they don't find your wiring tasty.
yep, trapping and killing instantly is way better than hoping they eat the poison and then hoping that they don't die in the car and stink for the next 6 months...
I was talking to the C5 specialist at the local Corvette shop and he said that he gave a customer a bill for over $2400 to repair damage done by one little mouse during winter storage. The darn thing gnawed through one wire under the dash and it took the shop many hours to find it. It can be a real SOB.
I started the car and the fan was on HIGH! Look what I caught!!!
Yea, he didnt survive the 1700 rpm carnival ride!! Little bastards feet stuck through the fan and made a tink tink tink..... sound when the fan coasted down!

My dad worked for a guy back in the late 80's who had bought a new Porsche. Mice had chewed the wiring harness up on it and caused several thousand $$ worth of damage, the car was brand new!!
I know I should have used some traps, didn't ahve any though, but did have the poison. By the time it gets warm enough around here for them to stink, they will dried up anyway!!!
I load the perimeter of my garage with mothballs inside and out. Apparantly the rodents do not like the smell of them. I picked up this info someone on the forum a couple of years ago.So far so good. I also put Dryer sheets on the interior so it smells nice and fresh in the spring. Good luck with getting rid of them.
Mice suck, glad they did not get in the car or chew up the wiring. When I got my C4 there was a family of them behind the bread loaf in the passenger side.

In addition to the above mentioned dryer sheets and moth ***** I have two (one at either end of the garage) electronic pest repellers that plug into a 110v power outlet. They work by sonic frequency that the rodents and other pest can't stand. I happened to notice that in the summer bees (or wasps) would fly into the garage at night with the doors open and the lights on and last about 10 minutes of flying into the walls trying to get out before withering on the floor dying. They cost $15 for a pack of two from Lowe's, Home Depot and the like. I gave two of these things to a fellow club member that in deed had a mouse problem, Last I heard he was now free of them.
then hoping that they don't die in the car and stink for the next 6 months...
I use D-Con (green stuff) in my shop, and it's a strychnine based poison that will make them go to water after they ingest it.....very small chance that they will die in your car. Just an FYI from someone that lives in the woods and uses that poison year round to control mice (and snakes that like mice).

I use the green stuff too, rats got in the attic and started making mice down in the garage. Five days of constant feeding and no more rats they were in a pile dead around a leaky garden hose connection outside. Fixed the rats and then the leaky hose!

that sucks. but when i picture the fan start up in my head its just to funny!
So far no mice in the Corvette in the garage, but just recently found "evidence" of them in the attic storage space directly overhead. When we pulled out the light strands for the house eaves, most of them had been chewed to pieces, not just little gnaw marks, I mean dozens of places with the wires chewed completely in two, like they thought it was twizzlers or something. Need to get some traps.
