Thanks for the help on this. I'm new to e-bay but I'm never going to even look at e-bay again. Why don't they just call it scam-bay! What a frigging waste of my time.
No need to be so rash.........I have had hundreds of successful transactions on eBay Most of the sellers and buyers are honest folks, you just have to read and follow the rules.
Crooks are not unique to eBay

Again, if you want to know what is REAL, go on the for sale site on eBay and click on the "Ask seller a question" and ask the original seller what is going on

This is not an "automatic bid" but simply eBay's "proxy bidding" system. Read all about it on eBay's help pages.

Anyway, I got this email today. I checked the item and it shows a winning bid of $280 (I would have gladly paid that). This sounds fishy, is it a scam?

This is the address it was sent from:

"eBay" <offer@ebay-member.com>

yeah these guys are targeting the bidder emails. And hoping you do not pay attention to the real account email of the auction owner.

There is an option when you create an auction to protect bidder information.

This should be used if you host an auction
