I at first wished that I had a manual in my vette but after I bought my WS6 trans am with the M6 and drove it most of the summer I am now glad I have the auto in the vette. I thought the M6 was a blast for a while but I got tired of shifting all the time. I even caught myself going from 1st to 4th from time to time just because I was getting lazy. It sure is nice to get in the vette and put it in D and push on the gas
I have an 03 Vert A4 3.15, if the same car was offered side by side same except pick the tranny, I think all things realistically considered, I would still pick the A4 with 3.15 axle
Autos are great fun. I really enjoyed mine when I had it.
I love my Z, but if I were to get an A4 again I would make sure the axle was NOT 2.73.

I prefer an MN6 but, there is nothing wrong with an A4.As long
as my knees hold out(too much jumping out of a perfectly good
airplane),I'll continue to prefer a manual,I just enjoy the
driving experience more.
It's all personal preference, thankfully the majority of 'Vettes
comes with your preference, unless you want a Z06
Hey man.... Call me..I'll fix your A4...Guarantee you'll love it.....

Man, I need a Chuck Cow near me,your a dealership right? Reminds me a bit Of Yenko/Baldwin.
Chuck, set up in So. Calif. yes they are more strict here,i.e., AQMD, but common us older Muscle Car quys are still here and we have more financial resources than back then. And once upon a time CALIFORNIA was THE PLACE for hot rods/muscle cars.
I will never own a stick shift again. I like the quote about why would you want to row if you have a motor. Get what you want and let everyone else do the same. My two cents.....
So many people think only their opinion can be right. I love my A4 and would buy it again. I have a 78 L82 4 spd that gives me all the shifting I want. If you're going to let your friend pick your car for you, maybe he should chip in some cash for the purchase. Pretty soon you'll let him pick the color, wheels, etc. Where will it end? Drive them both and pick what you like.

Some people prefer vanilla ice cream, and others prefer chocolate. Which one is a better choice? I guess it all boils down to personal preference.
My personal preference was an MN6, and after four years remains the case. An automatic Corvette is no less a sportscar than an MN6, and anyone that believes that needs to only look at some of the world's top shelf sportscars.....Ferrari, Porsche, Aston-Martin, Jaguar, etc.
Is a Porsche with a TipTronic not a sportscar? How about the F1 cars, they all have a clutchless paddle shifter, and no one in their right mind would question the performance capabilities of that car.
My only regret in getting the MN6 is that my wife refuses to drive the car. To some of you that is a big plus - but personally I see the car as ours and I would love to have her experience the joy I have when I drive the car. She is happy being a passenger as she drives about 35K miles per year in her job. But still it would be great if she'd try it.
This is an age-old question that's come up here more than just a few times, and the camps are always divided. Nothing new here.
What type of transmission does the blacksedan87 have in it?
I'm waiting for GM to put a performance paddle shift A6 in a C6 Z06! Yep, that will be the car that will break my bank!
I think it is a matter of personal preference and also a function of how you plan to use the car.
I have owned vettes with auto and stick. I prefer the stick but that's because I am a road racer type. If I was a cruise kind of guy or my car was a DD, I would definitely go with an auto.
Over the years have always enjoyed sticks. Agreed that the Corvette should be for us both to enjoy, hence got an A4. I have a Corvette AND peace in the valley- a two-fer.
1. i didnt know how slowly the auto downshifts.
2. i didnt know how slowly the car excelerates when you are at certain speeds.
3. i didnt know that i would take interest in a little recreational road coarse racing.
4. i didnt know that i would have this particular vette for so long and put so much money into it.
that's all i've got.
I understand but, there is hope. I have an A4 and had the same dislikes until.......I had the trans tuned.
- I had the shift times shortened to .250 Seconds. (Trans shifts much quicker now).
- All upshift points were shifted up the RPM range (to let it wind up closer to redline).
- All downshift points were shifted down the RPM range (quicker downshifts).
It drives like a true sports car now! HTH

Thanks for waking up my auto Chuck! Hope to see you in Vegas soon. BTW, a few club members now wants a tune when you get back, because my dad and I can't stop talking about your tune.
To the OP, it's your vette, pick which one you feel comfortable.

It is your life, get the tranny that makes you happy.
All my Vettes are automatics.
The '73 has a 700R4
The Rogue C5 (road course / track car) is an A4
The daily driver C6 an A6
Same as with a manual tranny, it is all about the driver and practice makes perfect. Over time you'll figure out what the tranny is going to do (and when) and learn to maximize it to the situation.
A tune can help wake up an automatic. I recommend ECS as they have lots of road course and track proven experience.
Stick or automatic??? The debate goes on. …..No right or wrong answer……get what YOU want…..on the other hand, NO one has the right to put down someone else’s choice.
