I like my Vette with a 6 speed because thats what I like, If I were to loose the use of my left leg then the automatic would be my choice.

Default if you got a small d***

you probably NEED a stick, if you are secure about who you are try both and you will find that both are grat but an A4 will give you all the fun you want , just don't be afraid to yank it down when you want to go fast, quick. I also beat many m6 with my auto because most macho guys think they can drive much better than they really can. get what you want !!!!

Wow, six pages in this post and many others of beating the hell out of this damn horse. Let's start a thread stating that only verts are true sportcars. That'll be just as much fun and you'll get lots of pages there too...

Okay Daddoe.....this is what happens on ALL forums.....repeats. So what. So come up with something COMPLETELY unique. Start a thread with a subject that NOBODY has EVER thought of......

I'm sick of that dead horse crap. I'm not a long-term member here but I've already seen repeats......and in those repeats, it seems someone does come in with a new, or slightly new, perspective.

That f'in dead horse just alienates new folks that are looking for earnest answers. And they want to belong to something. My ownership of this wonderful car has taken me away from other forums where I have earnest input.....a boating forum and a drumming forum......neither of those forums chastises people for being new to the subject.

So, I dare you.....come up with something completely new.
c'mon!

surprise me.....

i like manual for a DD. for a drag car i would go auto though. the consistency is great!

my 98 Z/28 was an auto. it was AWESOME from a stop (heads/cam/big stall) but sucked from a roll.

my vette on the other hand is great for highway racing!

I have a Titanium and Teflon knee thanks to the lil brown suckers in Viet Nam. An A4 suits me just fine. I do like those paddle shifters though.

This subject matter, automatics vs. manuals and verts vs coupes always starts a pissing contest. In many cases everyone tries to define for everyone else what a "sportcar" is. This has truly been beaten to death.

If it hasn't been done, maybe a thread about those that own manuals, would you buy one again on your next Vette, why or why not? ...same idea for a thread on automatics....surprise!

Should you really be doing all those things while you're driving? Concentrating on the road might be a good idea.

when it came time for me to look for a corvette.i did not know what i wanted at all.just wanted a vette.ended up with a 04 c-5 coupe black/torch with 7k on it.it is in mint condition all stock and a A-4.paid alot less then my friend's 06 c-6 m6.he also has a 98 camaro ss with 28k on her with gear's and a deicent amount of mod's and manuel 5 or 6,not sure.in a measured 1/4 mile run(dead end off highway) i smoke him every time.not buy much but i do.how much depend's on how he launch's.he's getting better...lol.it's funny when we run "em,i can see the concentration on his face,i lol take a sip of my D&D coffee and mash the paddle.love it...al.

And even natural born skill won't help much inless the driver practices... practices... practices... practices... practices...

No one is gonna consistantly win without plenty of dragstrip launch practices per season.

I see this all the time at our local dragstrip. Corvette owners with 6 speeds that either don't have the born-with coordination... and/or they don't practice; and too many times they just embarrass themselves and never return.

With the manual shift C5; it's not the transmission that gives extra the performance... it's the gifted driver that extracts the advantage a manual shift transmission can offer.
THANKS,YOU MADE MY DAY!!! I've followed drag racing faithfully since i was in high school(back when fuelers ran 11/12 sec. 1/4s)Didn't actually try it till this summer.First pass had an .049 rt 14.7@100 in an old mix and match 69 427 4-speed .While i haven't had a lot of practice on the strip I have been regularly driving sticks for over 45 years including traffic. It can be done with a stick My best rt this summer was a .001.I will admit it may be a challenge this year when I try it in my "new" FRC.....even though I'm very PRO 6-SPEED I too am VERY PRO get what you want---They're ALL corvettes...lots of people must like auto,,, the General sells a lot of them!!!When you see one on the road all you see is another vet,and I'm going to give'em a wave!!! SAVE THE WAVE!!!
