I just upgraded my f-45 selective ride control to f-55 mag ride (GM sells a kit for a around 2500. I could feel a slight difference in ride between the settings with the f-45. Now that I have the f-55 mag ride system, I can really feel the difference between the settings. In the tour setting, rough roads are much smoother but still feels like a sports car, in performance mode you feel every bump in the road. The other thing I really like is I don't scrape on when crossing crowned roads.
well first off, my car def bottoms out with dips in the road...at least the air dam does... no matter what setting im on... as for the upgrade to f55, that makes sense. last time I checked it was around 900 per shock anyway with the f45. I guess i will test this suspension out a bit more before i badmouth it anymore. I am very surprised with how many people really like this suspension.
I had src and replace the rear shocks at about 16k mi's, about five month's ago I put bilstien sport's on and the ride is 100% better. had to reprogram the computer if not car will not go over 80 mph.
In normal use I can't see any difference at all on my 02 with SRC. As some guys have said, on a bumpy road I can select sport or perf and it transmits the bumps more. Doesn't feel much stiffer but I guess it must be. The handling difference is negligable in turns.

I haven't noticed much difference in the SRC on my 2000
but, then again I'm not out testing each one to their ability.
Most likely when the time comes I'll opt to have a Tech 2
disable it and go with C6 Z06 shocks.

If I was able to do it over, on my '01 coupe, I would go with the Z-51 package. If for no other reason, I didn't consider the replacement cost of the F45 shocks when I ordered the car.

BINGO! I use perf everytime I come down the road to my house....I don't scrape then too!
You folks with Magnetic Ride who feel no difference in the settings, check your shocks for the shock stuffers used in shipping. Many dealers didn't pull them out of the shocks and they ride rough with no difference in the settings. I found them in a friend's 03 recently who had had the car 2 years and complained about the harsh ride. There's one in each shock that should have been pulled by the dealer at delivery.

It applies to the F45 suspension. The information below is from the PFADT site.
If you replace your stock suspension, however, the MIL light turns on and the car's top speed is limited to 80 MPH! By using our kit, you can install our coil-overs, and turn the MIL codes off, restoring the car to its original control.

Interesting and valuable input, I hope someone can benefit from it.
I agree, if you can`t feel the differance RIGHT AWAY between Sport and Tour, either your insensitive to your car,i.e. ergonomics, or something is major wrong like you perhaps indicate. Good post Bro.!
I had the f45 SRC on my 99 and could barely tell the difference in ride between the settings. Changed them out at about 100k with 04 Z06 shocks. Car had became almost unmanageable at high speed, would float all over the road. The Z06 shocks made a huge difference in the way the car handles. I don’t care if they were brand new the f45 shocks never worked anywhere near as well. Ya, the ride is a bit harsher with the Z06 shocks but jeez this is a high performance sports car and with the Z06 shocks it handles like it should. I also later changed over to the Z06 springs but the shocks are where the biggest improvement came from. Very easy mod, as has been stated you just need to have the f45/f55 option removed from the BCM using a Tech II.
Find a stretch of highway with a few "road imperfections" and speed limit of at least 60 and switch between the two settings. Trust me, you WILL feel the difference. Also, go over a railroad crossing in Sport and then go over it again in Tour. The system works
FWIW, Ferrari asked GM to allow them to use the same F55 suspension on their cars.
During our cruise a few weeks ago, I was showing off the mag ride to one of our club member (his vette in the shop) and he felt the difference as switched between the two.
Good luck with your CE,let me know how you like it...love mine!
thanks!! Im sure I will love it. The targa top has not even had the factory white plastic protective vinyl film stuff hasnt ever been removed. only 8K miles on it, I cant wait !
I upgraded to Z06 sways at 18k. At 22k (when I switched to non-runflats), I decided to go to Z51 springs and Koni shocks. I had removed the ride control module and had the F45 option removed with a Tech2. I could've installed simulators (resistors), but chose to make the change more permanent.
I honestly believe that the ride is every bit as smooth as before, but is much more controlled. I don't miss the adjustability one bit.
