Did you check with your insurance carrier? I have a zero deductible on my comprehensive, and it does not affect my rates to file a comprehensive claim. Maybe you can send the bill to your carrier and see what they say. Even if you have a $250 deductible, you still may have a check in your hand. Small consolation.

back in 1981 i had just bought my first corvette. a black on black 81 coupe. on a sat night i took it out to a night club, parked it in a closed off area for fancy cars and guess what!!! i came out at about 12:30 am and someone had taken a key all the way down the side from bumper to bumper. sense it was brand new with about 40 miles on it the insurance company had the whole car repainted. i feel your pain!!!!!

Wow, definitely sorry to see that man. Some people are just spiteful of others' success and nice things.

A moron doesn't need a good reason....... There is no good reason to damage someone else's property, let alone a beautiful car.

Sorry about that. SOme people don't take care of their own stuff and evidently can't stand to see that someone else does.
Here's hoping the "fix" will be perfect. I'm holding that thought.

I feel for you,, that really sucks. I know how it feels. People are just jealous ba$tard$ and want you to spend usless money on repairs. Was the car parked in it's spot or did it take 2 spots,, just curious, some people get really pissed at that .. Hope it doesn't cost too much to fix.

Yep, that's how it works... Only thing is you didn't call the military police and file a report right away so they might hold that against ya. But definitely stop by and show them and they'll prob hook you up with a police report. Then go get an estimate and bring it to base legal office. They should pay your deductible and you might get lucky enough to get most of it buffed out and a few bucks in your pocket. Either way good luck.

Default Well, it could be worse

Sorry that it happened. People just don't think. They think that its ok to trash someone else's possesions. But...at least you still own and can drive your's.

Mine was sitting nice and cozy in a parking lot in a spot that I though for sure was out of harms way. This nice little 21 year old girlwith NO license and NO insurance was "late for work" came around the corner in her 1992 Geo Prism left 143 ft of skid marks before doing this...

Yes the car is totalled.

And here is the offending vehicle

And this is me now

That sucks, and I'm feeling your pain. Someone keyed my fiance's jetta, not a Corvette but we were planning on trading it in this weekend. They did both sides from the headlights to the taillights.

I wonder if anyone has caught someone in the act of doing that to their car. I'd hate to see what some people would do to someone who does these types of things.... ok, I'd probably actually like to see what some do.

Been there, done that, paid the bill.

Sucks man, sad world we live in. Owned my car for 3 months, paid out over $1500 in body work from being keyed, door "ding" all the way down through the primer, and front ps fender swiped in a parking lot.

Default you guys will love this

Sorry again to hear that man but I got a good one for you guys to enjoy. I can't believe I didn't share this earlier, 2nd Vette I had was a black '96 LT4,. I loved that car (modded up over a few years) more than anything and would trade my '02 zo6 straight up to have it back. I was coming home from work one night (bartender) and a new Lexus with four teenagers in it pulls up next to me (on the right), well when the light turned green I let up on the clutch and felt something hit the inside of my left thigh, I look down to see an egg in my crotch (unbroken) and out of the corner of my eye I see those clowns have made an illegal right at the light and are hauling a@# up the highway on-ramp so I make a highly illegal tire smoking 270 degree turn and give chase-well when the egg hit their daddy's car I was doing about 135-140. I hope it dented the car but the very least I know they had to wash it before they got home. Corvette karma will bite em in the a@# someday.

Plenty of *******s to go around, only a matter of time. I've been lucky so far.

Well, only consolation is that after you have it fixed :

It will look better than before.
You will probably fix some other small things.
and . . .
You will still be driving that car

While asshat there will still be walking around hating the world for what he doesnt have and scratching cars.
How lame is that ?

that sucks man. Back in my younger years, I actually caught an A-hole reaching into my car to get my fuzzbuster as i was coming out of the 7-11. His excuse as I grabbed his arm was he taught it was his friends car. Let just say I beside my sore shoulder from working out, my knuckles also hurt after that incident.
