Default Adding a ZR1??

After reading the "First Looks" in the Vette Mag's about the soon to come ZR1, I've had thoughts of going DEEP into an auto loan and clearing space next to my C5(stingraymyway). It can be feasible sense I won't have a morgage payment by Summer. I've worked 6 & 7 day work weeks for the past 14 years and have doubled up on the house payments and I'm just a few months away from having the house paid off.
Anyone else having thoughts of buying the new ZR1?

I have no thoughts. Beautiful car, but too much money for me. I'd rather sink $50k into my C3 rebuild project and keep playing with my C5. Either way, I'll end up upside down but a custom 74 Vert sounds like more fun to me.

If the cost is difficult to swallow for you, I'd suggest waiting 18 months or so and picking up one with a few miles and save yourself several thousand dollars.

Good luck with your decision.

I kind of agree the ZR1 is an amazing machine but just sooooo expensive. I would personally get a new Z06 which is still be all means a rare car and the performance is obviously outrageous! Or if you wanna stay much cheaper than a new ZR1 consider a lightly used 06-08 Z06 as good as new.

I wish I could buy one. If any of the stuff I've heard is true, this might be the best thing you'll see out of GM for awhile. I'm guessing re-sale value will be pretty d*mn sweet ten years from now. Hell try and get a C4 ZR1.

If that is indeed what you plan to do, which sounds good to me. Why not take out an equity loan on your house that will be paid off so you can at least write off the interest portion of your loan. Think of what a savings that would be! Good luck

Great idea.

And better yet, refinance with a cash out option, you'll get a better interest rate than a home equity loan and still be able to deduct the interest.

You should, if you haven't drive a C6 Z06. I think anything over 500 rwhp is overkill. I have a supercharged C5 and except for the occasional sprint to reach freeway speeds it goes unused. If your taking it to the track that's different.

I'd say with the housing market, that $100 large could buy more real estate at a bargain price. Long term seems like a better investment.

I couldn't buy one knowing your paying 20k above sticker or at least that is the rumor going around of what you'll be paying. Now that the C-6 Z06's have come down, I think that is a better deal and agree anything over 540hp might be overkill unless you go to the track often.

The ZR1 is AWESOME! However, even if I had the dough, I'd just get a recent C6Z and mod it... Most of the body mods should swap (except the ridiculous Tele-Tubby hood), and the brakes, etc... The engine is sweet, but overkill. Of course, that wouldn't get you the color -- I do love that Cyber Gray or whatever it's called...

Go to the bank and ask to see 100k in cash. Then think, should I spend this on a car?

Well, dreaming is nice - even better if you can swing making your dream come true. It's just not even close to being within my reach - unless lightning strikes and I win the lottery (do you have to buy a ticket to win? ).

Not sure about that.......my Line of Credit is now at 5% and all I have to do is write a check to use it......no closing costs, etc. Don't know if you can get a first mortgage at 5% but even if ya can, the closing cost would have to be factored in............just a thought. Back to the subject at hand though...........if ya want it and can swing it....go for it. Don't get stuck in the world of "I wish I had"......life is way too short and unpredictable for that! Good luck!

Does getting a 100k loan for a luxury item seem a bit absurd to anyone else? People who usually have such cars usually pay cash for them. The interest on a loan like that would be giving the bank some 20-40k depending on your rate and length of the loan.

To each their own I guess. If you do get it, just make sure you put up some nice pictures so I can live vicariously through your spending.
