I soldered the wires into the footwell leds I've previously wired in. I put a connector at the back of the reflector leds so when in the future I pull the doorpanel, all I have to do is unplug them.
Working on a different design as soon as I get more leds
How much dead space is in there Tom? I'm wondering if two 3mms would fit in the middle back to back laying sidewise shooting toward the ends of the reflector?
Hey Tim I just checked and I think there is plenty of room.I've got a backing plate for a reflector but no reflector. I broke one and like a dummy I threw the domed reflector part away.I'm having a heck of a time finding reflectors at a decent price. I found 2 on e-bay and made an offer.I've got 2 sets coming to me for a mod so I'll check it out. Are we ever satisfied???

or even facing downward so you wouldn't see the leds at all, just the light.
Have you tried Gene's karshop? He has a salvage yard in Florida for Vettes and he's a really good guy... This is on my hit list too, but you're on it first. Excellent install BTW and very professionally done!!!
Satisfied? And stop progress? My God man, that's crazy talk!

I think the best we could do to spread the light would be to try Tims idea of laying a couple leds down and diffuse the light that way. I actually like the way mine look now but why not try and improve! How about mounting a million color mini strip inside the reflector and check out the colors!!Maybe too ricey??

If you could split em apart, laying a ring of EL wire around the perimeter might look pretty trick!

I'll have to try him.I still cant get ahold of my scource at the Denver GM warehouse. She might be on vacation.
They probably aren't, he just spends all his money on LEDs and wire!
Tim
You know me to da well! Just order $150 worth of stuff from oznium. How many reflectors could I buy for that? Quit picking on me. .How much was that adjustable power supply you bought??

Hmmm To be honest I forget, but it wasn't alot by any means. Blue LEDs fire up great on the 3 volt setting but I fried a Red one on the same setting... You want a pic of it?
I have a few of em actually, I install them in place of batteries in things we use alot that are battery operated.

Splitting them apart is easy What is el wire??
There is a little channel between the backing plate and the domed part of the reflector.I just use a flat screwdriver and gently pry around the perimeter .Glue them back together when done.

In this application EL wire may not be a good thing. High voltage AC field in the door is just asking for trouble. (Noise induced into the speakers possible erratic window and door lock operation)
