Hello, I'm in the market for new tires, and I have the original run flats. And I hate them! My question is what is the Quietest and Smoothest riding choice in both run-flat or regular tires. I'am not a performance or go-fast guy.The Vette is just about style and image and Sunday afternoon crusing for me .Your comments Please.........
If you want a quiet, great performer paricularly in rain runflat or non the Kumho Ecsta MX (non rf) or the Kumho Ecsta SPT (rf). Aggressive tread design and definitely cheaper than the Goodyears!!
Go with the EMT the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP. No worry about a flat and a smooth quite ride. I just put them on mine. I couldn't face the noise of the Goodyears again.
Michelin Sport Pilot AS ZP gets my vote. I just put them on my C5 and filled them with N2. It is a very smooth and quiet ride compared to the Goodyear run flats.
Put Michelin A/S ZP's on my '03 last September. They are quieter than the Goodyears and handle better. The improved ride and quieter tire get my vote.... Paid $1458 at Costco. The techs were professional and mounted them without a hitch.
Love my Michelin Pilot Sports but didn't want to cough up that much dough for some new rubber. Also runflats aren't so important for me. So I just ordered a set of Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas. I have never used them before and they are kind of new on the US market but been getting great reviews. In some cases people rate them right there with the premium brands and they are only half the price.

Keep in mind that almost ANY new tire will feel great when brand new. What separates most inexpensive tires from premium brands is what happens after 8000 miles or so. In many cases, excessive noise, wear, and other annoying traits rear their ugly heads well before the tire is worn out.
So, take "rave reviews" with a grain of salt unless those reviews remain unchanged after the miles are piled on. I learned my lesson with inexpensive tires and I prefer not to take a chance again, especially with a $50,000 sports car.
