Ever think of increasing the deductibles to $500 or even $1,000 on the Comp & Collision???? Premium savings could be substantial.
With property and casualty insurance, it is not always about the rates and premium money. I have a close relationship with my attorney, accountant, financial planner, and include the insurance broker in that group.
Before each auto & homeowners renewal dates, she calls and we discuss values, coverages, deductibles, and changes in the market since last year. If there is a reason to move from one carrier to another, she will recommend a change.
The money is important but it must be tempered with the personal service I expect and do not mind paying for. As it turns out, the coverage she writes with a well known national company comes with very competitive, hard-to-beat rates.
AARP wouldn't insure me because I have a Vette. I've had Allstate for 25 years. I have 2 sports cars, a new truck and a Focus. With the ol ladies 2 tickets I still pay less than $2k a year full coverage and way over the minimun requirements. I've thought about Haggerty for the Vette but haven't called yet.
There has to be more to it !! Hartfard took on my vette and it was actually less on my '02 vette than my '07 Chevy Pick up. I used to have Country Companies Ins for years. My agent asked why I changed and when I told him I went with AARP Hartfard he told me he looses a lot of business to them as people turn 50. I guess my point is , they do insure vette's there must be some other issue .
Hi Jim,
I have the travelers: (Hartford,CT.) full coverage,100/300 500 deductable, towing included. 3 vehicles: 01 t/r 6spd.corvette coupe/02 silver accord ex coupe a/t 1998 n.y. jet green ford ranger a/t xlt 4x4 super cab w/ fiber glass cap.No accidents in over 10 years. $1600. per year and they have a local agent which means no telephone tag games.I can't comment on how effective they are with claims.I also have GMPP on the vette until 2010 never used it so far.I had the vette 16 months going to make the final payment next month.
Geico sends me a lot of mail. I might contact them for a quote. I probably should only carry comp.& collison on the ranger as its 10 years old. What you think?

I think you mean just carry liability and drop the comp and collision.
My 2004 Comm. is about $500.00 a year full coverage with Liberty Mutual.
Called Liberty Mutual yesterday. They quoted me $900 every 6 mo. with $1000 deduct compared to $600 every 6 mo. I'm paying with state farm on my 06 Silverado. How is everyone getting such inexpensive insurance?
I have three other cars insured with them, no violations and I am getting pretty old (almost 55) Other than that I was just as surprised as you, but I'm not going to call and complain!
I went with Geico after I learned that my insurance agent (broker) was about 1200/yr higher on average than most. That is what you get for trusting them. They saved me over 1400/yr. Wife and I are 32 have 5 cars, plus the house, several rental properties, etc.
I have full coverage on everything, Viper, Vette, Denali, SRT-10 Ram, etc. There are a lot of variables also. Credit rating, driving record, who drives what, average mileage per year, etc.
