It's stupid to waste time being jealous when they should be focusing on how to get one of their own. There are a lot of stupid people though.

Regarding the 18 year old in the C6 section.. maybe he's a good kid, goes to school gets straight A's, going to college etc... it's not his fault his parents have cash.
Sure it's not....what what kind of "life lesson" are they teaching him???....Is this kid going to grow up knowing the true value of a buck???....Or what hard work is all about???.....I dont have a problem doing something nice for your kid if he/she deserves it....but c'mon...a C6 Z-06??.......Let's be real....

I hear you loud and clear man and I agree with a lot of what you're saying.I can't really blame the 18-year old though, since daddy opened
his wallet under his own free will. There's always gonna be someone
that's more financially endowed.

I do not think the 18-year old is benefitting one bit from acquiring such a car and I blame the father for not teaching him a set of values.None of us would turn down a free Z06,bar-none.

I'm not suprised that he's unemployed,if you're father had the means to purchase Z06's and gave you one at 18 obviously he's not gonna be
banging on you're room door to get a job at a movie theater so he can make ends meet.

I've worked hard all my life as well, and I feel the same when it comes to seeing something I've had to work day in,day out to get over years
then watch somebody sign the bottom-line in about 2.5 seconds and it
just burns my azz.

I can't compete,and I won't compete because it's a losing battle,because my body can't cash ego checks.Tony&Gino will
make sure of that, and I'm not talking about my fiancee's brothers.

Look at the bright side though, friend. No one will mistake you for
driving Daddy's car He on the other hand will be branded
with that for life like the Scarlet Letter.

Hold your head up high, you earned yours the old-fashioned way

I feel you bro, So i talked my wife into letting me buy a Vette (three weeks of begging) I drove up to work in it, 30 mins late due to paperwork and normal dealership stuff, and everyone stared in awe as i drove up in a bright shiny red coupe. My supervisor, an E-7, asked me in front of all my work buddies, "So did daddy buy that for you?" Instantly i was heated, but he was an E-7 and Im just a little E-3 so i nicely explained to him that i didn't join the air force with no money in my pocket like most airmen fresh out of high school. He just happened to know that my father owns a very large metal recycling company in south Texas and that i had just returned from visiting him. So needless to say, 99% percent of the time its going to be jealousy.

The ladies don't say "daddy's car" to me, they say, "You're old enough to be my daddy!"

Count your blessings young bucks and let that crap fly in one ear and out the other. One day you'll realize the advantage of just letting most crap go. If you feel that you must flex you testosterone muscles, there's a war going on in which you can become a participant that I''m sure will get all the fight out your bones in quick order.

Confrontation is not worth it when walking away reveals the bigger man. That's coming from someone who use to go out of his way to plant his boot in some azz daily. I now follow my own advice.

Thank God someone else feels the same way. I am a younger guy myself, 23. I come from a blue collar family...but I just so happen to be an engineer so I can afford nicer things. I can tell you nothing ticks me off more than daddy buying their children 100K cars. If the kids earned it themselves, more power to them. But these kids have never earned anything, they have no respect for others or their property either. I fail to see how giving a child everything he/she wants is even slightly beneficial to kids. I sound like my dad. Oh well, what do I know, I am a hick from Oklahoma.

Andrew,
Lemme tell you something...you command a HELLUVA lot more respect (from me anyway) for being a C5 owner (that earned it himself) than being a C6 Z-06 owner whose daddy bought it for him!!

Good story, and your response was fine too. The only problem is that I am totally jealous as well because you are the age of my kids.

Enjoy your youth.

I heard the same exact comment and I'm 39. I'm also asian, so I look pretty young and still get carded.

I think is kind of funny how people view Corvette's as "really expensive" cars. I like to look at my 2003 Z06 as the best damn performance bang-for-your-buck. I'm driving a bargain!

I'm a hot head too - and up to this point, I've been lucky and not gotten my *** kicked confronting a couple of jerks. But one of these days.........

Best bet is ignore 'em. That hurts their feelings more if you don't play into their game.
I say just relax and enjoy your vet.. There will always be an opening for some kind of comment. A few years they can say "oh mid life crisis" a little more,,trying to be younger a little older still-- second child hood. Hell I'm 61 and the kids first said Mid life crisis,, I hope so,,122 years old and I'll still trying to drive my vet!!
